This permits you to bypass the menu and go directly to selecting a game to play. 3) When a mate involved opposition with the other king, and the mating piece intervened between the kings to perform mate, it was only depicting "in check" and not mate. 4) On the playing board, using the "N"ext feature, upon the last game encountered a msg will displayed depicting such. 5) Online Play : This is the biggie in this release! I've created a much nicer interface for online play, or play across nodes. It also corrects the problems a sysop had when playing a player online. Sysops can now play games locally against players online. Some of the features are: - Page another player online - online chat - selectable game time limits. 15 min, 20 min or 30 min. (clock is enforced in online games) - start new games or continue an existing - rated or nonrated play. Version 2.21 Release Date 11/07/92 =================================== 1) When checking for CMCom presence, ChessMAGIC! will no longer ask whether CMCom is present, if its not detected. The program would unconditionally send graphic information if a response of Y was entered. 2) Adjusted the online play so that if/then moves cannot be selected. 3) Adjusted the online play so that the game cannot be killed. Version 2.20 Release Date 10/20/92 =================================== 1) Unleashed the CMCom communications. CMCom, the remote graphical communication interface to ChessMAGIC! is now available. Download CMCom from Atlanta Chess BBS! Version 2.16 Release Date 10/12/92 =================================== 1) There was a bug with the refresh, option F on the board screen. CMCom interpetitive commands were being sent to the remote end, whether CMCom was being utilized or not. This would appear as line noise or garbage to the remote user. Version 2.15 Release Date 10/10/92 =================================== 1) Occasionally when going from game to game, on the board screen, stranded pieces would remain on the screen. Corrected to refresh the playing board properly. 2) Sometimes the last move, on the game board, was not displaying. 3) The game number, on the playing board was sometimes being displayed erroneously. 4) Now the graphics version and the ANSI version contains the same version number. 5) Added a disclaimer text file, titled "MYSTORY!.TXT", that tells my side of the story from the allegations propogated by Tom Brady and Decibel. Version 2.12 Release Data 09/15/92 ================================== 1) The Hi-Res Graphics version (cmagicx.exe) would lock up the system when accessing the If/Then moves. Too much memory was being allocated in this process causing the lockup. This is not a problem in the ANSI 2.01 as it was it entirely graphics orientated. Version 2.11 Release Data 09/02/92 ================================== 1) Available now is ChessMAGIC! Graphics. ChessMAGIC! is now available in graphics! Enjoy colorful graphical menus, board and pieces on your BBS! Shed ANSI and gain the beauty and speed of graphics. Requires a minimum of EGA graphics and 300k of memory. Registered users can upgrade to this version for $15.00. See the README.1ST file for more information on ChessMAGIC! graphics. 08/23/92 1) Changed the rating algorithm to the new USCF algoritm. Detailed information on this rating system may be obtained from the United States Chess Federation, 186 Route 9W, New Windsor, NY 12553. The provisional rating is somewhat different, as it is only carried for the 1st three games completed by a player in a rated game area. I also use a +/- 100 rather than the +/- 400 that the USCF uses. 2) Added a new feature in the game playing area, If/Then Moves. This permits a player to enter moves, that he thinks his opponent will make, then add the replies. When the opponent matches his if/then move, his reply to this move will be immediately made. A player may enter up to 20 half moves in this feature. This will assist in speeding up the game play! This is the T option on the game playing board. 3) The View option on the playing board has been disabled. It is now enabled and anyone may now replay a game online! It provides move forward, backward, reset the position and quit. 4) The draw by repetition and draw by lack of mating material is now functioning. A draw by repetition will occur if the same position is reached 3 times. 5) Removed the computer play feature temporarily. I'm planning on offering this as a separate feature, hopefully later this year. All those that have registered, will be provided this module free of charge! 6) Changed the T=Take Back option on the game playing board to U=Undo Move. 7) Redesigned the game files, the former *.mve files. They are now labeled *.cmg (ChessMagic! Game File) and are much smaller in size than before. The files are in a text format and are easy to modify if required. Refer to the CMAGIC.DOC file for a more complete description of these files. Don't forget to use the GAMECHG.EXE file before running this version. See the GAMECHG.DOC file! 8) ChessMAGIC! will now generate stats for your use. It'll generate 2 types of stats, 1) the master rating list and 2) area stats. The master rating list will be in the ChessMAGIC! default directory as "MASTER.STS". The area stats will be in the "area directory" and will be listed as AREA_ID.STS (where AREA_ID = the game area ID). These files will be generated when ChessMAGIC! is accessed for the first time each day. 9) Added memory available to the master menu in the lower right hand corner. This is the "conventional memory" available for other programs. 10) Whenever a player has less than 4 minutes remaining in ChessMAGIC!, a notice will be displayed every minute informing them that they will be returned to the BBS in X minutes. 11) CMSYS has been completely rewritten in C++. It now provides data browse, context sensitive help and radio buttons to clarify previously cryptic data and the processing speed has been greatly improved. As always, this product requires no additional registration fee and accompanies the registered version of ChessMAGIC!.
