! ;|'''''5.c B(&'&&&CheriChat Version 1.2 August 4, 1991 a PCBoard 14.5 Door by Howard "Howeird" Stateman Sysop of the Anatomically Correct BBS (415) 8-Jovial Palo Alto, CA Description CHERCHAT and HOWCHAT are user-obnoxious, X-rated programs which pretend to "chat" with your callers. They were originally written in MBASIC for CP/M to fool the folks calling my single-line BBS into thinking someone else was actually online and chatting with them. These have been rewritten, using the DOORSORC libraries, to work under a single node of PCBoard 14.x (but it has only been tested on 14.5). Disclaimer Howeird, Howard Stateman and the Anatomically Correct BBS make no claims whatsoever and will accept no responsibility for your use of this software. It is offered in good faith and contains no bugs, worms, viruses, mold or mildew to the best of the author's knowledge. These programs are rude, obnoxious and foul-mouthed, and will offend most of your callers. They are not meant for minors, or the guardians of our nation's morals. Knowing that, if you get complaints, letter bombs or arrested for using this software, you're on your own. Licensing CheriChat, CHERCHAT.BAS and HOWCHAT.BAS are Copyright 1991 by Howard Stateman, all rights reserved. It is to be distributed for free, and no fee may be charged for its use or distribution. Commercial BBS systems may use it free of charge as long as no extra fee is charged the customer to specifically access the CHERCHAT or HOWCHAT doors. Source code has been provided, and may be modified as long as the original author is credited, and a list of the modifications (and author of them) is included in the source code's comment lines. Modified code may not be sold for profit. If you enjoy the programs, and would like to express your gratitude in monetary form, send what you think they are worth (or your current bank balance, whichever is greater) to: Howard Stateman 4546 El Camino B-10 #335 Los Altos, CA 94022 This is a mailing service, which explains why it is not the same town as the Anatomically Correct BBS. Growing Your Own Chat: If you want to change the source code and recompile, you will need DOORSORC 3.1 libraries and Microsoft QBasic 4.5. DS31.ZIP is available on many PCBoard BBSs, QBasic 4.5 can be bought wherever DOS software is sold. Some hints: 1. To change the name of the computer chatter, just do a global Find/Replace on "CHERI" in CHERCHAT.BAS or on "HOWEIRD" in HOWCHAT.BAS. The names are only used as prompts, so a global Replace won't hurt anything. 2. You can adjust the typing delay speeds by tweaking the numbers in lines 1740-1770. Line 1700 determines which characters in the output get which delays. This is done by using the INT function to count every 3rd, 7th and 11th character. 3. The actual keywords and reponses start at line 1000. The keyword is followed by a comma and the number of responses for that word. The next x lines are the responses. Read the REM notes in the source before altering the number of keywords and responses! 4. The program will not run at all if you remove the INCLUDE comment on line 20. If you make major improvements to the programs, please send a courtesy copy to Howeird. |$ |RN P l n "|!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!''9Roman 10cpikk k|RkN ` n 5 s } bfs@Mz| R \ | Lp(2 0puw%"=/h9%V%I(Howard StatemanHoward Stateman
