REGISTERING YOUR NODE WITH JVARCSERV ------------------------------------ Before you register with JVArcServ, you must request the magic file "JVARCFC" from this system. This is the file compiler which creates a file listing of your system which JVArcServ can understand. You must download this program, set it up, run it, and place the resulting file in a file-requestable directory. When you issue this "REGISTER" command to JVArcServ, it will immediately request this file from your system. If there is any problem and this file request fails, then your system will not be requested for the file again until the first day of the next month during JVArcServ's regular file listing request routine. If you have any problems in obtaining, setting up, or running JVArcFC, contact the sysop of this system. However, it is a simple program to set up and you shouldn't have any problems. JVArcServ also allows a forwarding option when you register. If you are long distance from the server, you can specify a node that is both local to you and the server when you register. In this case, your file list will be requested from this node instead of your own node. You must make arrnagements with this other node first so that the operator knows what is going on, and he can move your file list into a file- requestable directory.
