Message To Sysops & Points Regarding AreaFix Forward ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ What is AreaFix? AreaFix is a program run on your MorrisNet/2! Hub/Host system that controls the echo areas that your node/point receives. When you first connect to MorrisNet/2!, you will only have the Netmail area turned on. You need to send a netmail message to "AreaFix" @ 96:100/1 [or your host address] to turn on your message areas. PLEASE NOTE: This document is a general AreaFix help file, but does contain some program-specific commands. Not all AreaFix's will have all of these commands. Many of these commands are specific to FastEcho's AreaFix, which is run on Bandersnatch BBS, MorrisNet/2! World Headquarters (96:100/1). Why do I need AreaFix? Because without it, your Hub/Host would have no way of knowing which echoes you want to receive and which you would like to ignore. Remember the required conferences! You Cannot Connect to MorrisNet/2! unless you carry the following conferences: MNET_NEWS, MNET_GEN, MNET_SUGG, MNET_USER2MOD, and MNET_STAFF. How Do I Use AreaFix? I'm so glad you asked that.. :) Well, first you need to send a netmail message to "AreaFix" @ 96:100/1 (or your hub/host's address.) The Commands follow... Zone96 Admin would like it known that all sysops and point operators (especially point operators) make use of the %PAUSE and %RESUME features of AreaFix. If you know that you are going to not poll for some time, due to vacation or other forseeable event, please send a message to AreaFix and suspend your mail delivery until you return. Otherwise, packets will build up on your host/hub system and waste space. When you return, send another message to AreaFix and %RESUME your Feed. You May then do a %RESCAN and %DAYS #, where the # is the number of days your feed was suspended. Point/Node packets that become to large may be deleted by Hub/Host systems willfully and lawfully under MorrisNet/2! rules and regulations. If a packet is deleted, you can recover the EchoMail, but Netmail may be lost forever. Sysops of Host/Hub boards will not be held accountable or responsible for packet deletion.
