     1) Hi!
     We are happy that you are enjoying one of our small products.
We hope that this product of a joint work of our tiny group of
programmers and scientists will bring you some ease in the word-
processing and communication. In Russia even people, not familiar
with PC were using it a lot after 30 minutes of reading the helps
in Russian.
     2) Requirements

     Hardware requirements - any 80*86 PC-compatible with not less
than 640 K RAM and 2 Mb diskspace.
     Virtually any video card (VGA, CGA, HGC, MGA )is supported.
Those, which have no cyrillic built-in will work nicely in the graphics
mode. Almost no slowing down.
     The communication package works as the 0-th window of the
editor an is called from the menu (F5 ) or via ALT-0 .


 IMPORTANT NOTE! The package is being automatically protected after
it is installed on the HD. So no copying is possible from there. If
you want to make a copy, reinstall from the installation disk.
  The program is not working and never will work from the floppies.
Too big.

    3) Step by step instruction.

    3.1) Unzip your package with the shareware version of the editor onto
the floppy disk 3.5 (1.44 Mb)

    3.2) Label the diskette as  ELIPS_1.

    3.3) Then  follow the instructions after starting the procedure:

     set_inst C: [D:,E:,F: etc.].

    3.5) select and save the necessary keyboard and other setups
         during the installation. You can do it later by running
         setup.exe
    3.6) Make necessary changes into the autoexec.bat file,
         suggested by the program. They are displayed during the
         installation.

     Для развертывания программных средств ЭЛИПС на IBM-совместимом
компьютере необходимо выполнить следующие операции.

     1) Убедиться, что на винчестере есть свободная память - 3 Mb.

     В процессе инсталляции Вы можете переопределить только диск.
     При выбранном диске E: инсталляция осуществляется по "дереву":

           e:\┐
              ├───e:\elips───┐
              │              ├──e:\elips\receive
              │              ├──e:\elips\send
              │              ├──e:\elips\cm_conf
              │              ├──e:\elips\uu_conf
              │              └──e:\elips\font


     2) Снять резидентные программы и  перейти  в  командный  режим
DOS. Вставить в дисковод A: (или B:) дискету 1, перейти на  выбран-
ный дисковод и запустить программу SET_INST.BAT с параметром диска,
на который Вы инсталлируете программу, например SET_INST E:.

     3) В процессе инсталляции дискеты дистрибутивного пакета  зап-
рашиваются последовательно; в  ряде  случаев  появляется  повторный
запрос на установку ранее использованных дискет.

     4) Откорректируйте файл AUTOEXEC.BAT. Для  ЭЛИПС  должны  быть
установлены переменные ISODI и FONT, BANK в соответствии с заданны-
ми при инсталляции директориями. Переменная  PATH  должна  включать
имя директории,  в  которой  инсталлированы  программные  средства,
например:

     PATH = ....; E:\elips;
     \elips\vgare ( egare , cgare - the keyboard-video cyrillic driver )
     set isodi=E:\elips
     set font=E:\elips\font
     set TZ=msk  ( This is important only for the UUCP-link )

     5) При необходимости стартовать программу SETUP  и  установить
тип монитора и желаемые характеристики по  кодировке  клавиатуры  и
файлов.

     6) Запуск ЭЛИПС осуществляется командой ELIPS.
