Its RAM small size enables you to work with very memory hungry software packages that squeeze out the competition. The software included here is assembled as a useful toolkit, with various parts being easily replaced by other software as you prefer. If you did not use the INSTALL to load this stuff on your hard drive, you might be feeling a little lost. Basically you just need to run TSMENU.BAT (or TSBASIC.BAT if you can't find TSMENU.BAT) and choose Setup. You need to specify the correct serial COM port and baud and save your choices. If necessary you can run the PORTEST utility to find the correct serial COM port. Then you can load the host - tsh or remote - tsr into ram and go to it - assuming you have another computer waiting for you on the other end of your phone/serial line. Most of the other tools are special purpose utilities that you can read up on as you go along - or erase if you find you don't use them. The TeleShare package gets quite small if you only use the core portions and erase the rest. Shipping List: (or some of whats here and what it does) The shipping list of the executable files that may be included in the distribution is as follows: ([Doc] indicates that it has a similar named manual) TSH.exe - the Host portion for remote control [tele.TXT] TeleShare DOS REMOTE readme.TXT Page 2 TSR.exe - the Remote portion for remote control [tele.TXT] tssetup.exe - the setup utility for TSH, TSR and XM [Doc] xm.exe - the integrated xmodem file transfer tool [Doc] dialer.exe - a nice dialer that works with telefile [Doc] telefile.exe - the file clumper and external protocol tool [Doc] scomm.exe - a minimal terminal and dialer [Doc] scommupd.exe - a config tool for scomm ts_wait.exe - the wait utility [Doc] portest.exe - a simple com port tester and finder. delay.exe - a delay/wait tool. dirdbf.exe - the file finder used by telefile gather.exe - the command line base file manager [Doc] mnu.exe - the Dos menu program [Doc] async.exe - a diagnostic and fix tool [Doc] 550reset.exe - a 16550 uart reset tool [Doc] rs232off.exe - a general uart reset tool Often, plus other materials. A fair number of utilities have been removed from this release, but are available in various ways. Our distributors naturally seek to minimise the bulk that they distribute, and we cooperate by removing portions, but still making the additional portions available in other ways. Our preferred option is for you to ask for 'everything' when you register. The manuals: The documentation is spread out into some manuals to match specific purposes and tools and to avoid one overly large manual. Its generally easier to find the XM.TXT when one wants to find out more about the XM.EXE utility than to search through some 'EVERYTHING.TXT'. The TELE.TXT is the main manual with general setup coverage and coverage of the Remote (TSR) and the Host (TSH). You should look at the EXAMPLES.TXT. Both MNU and TELEFILE have browsers that will help you browse the manuals. More Important, or more useful, Manuals SHR_WARE.TXT explains Shareware marketing. REGISTER.TXT explains the product pricing. TELE.TXT for the actual remote control functions. VENDOR.TXT supplies shareware vendor information. TeleShare DOS REMOTE readme.TXT Page 3 INSTALL.TXT (if present) describes the install.exe Printing the Manuals The documentation is in plain text, or ascii, format and contains form feed characters to advance the pages. Please be sure to read the individual manuals on disk before deciding to print them out. A primary reason for so many small manuals is to make finding the right information easier. It also means that you only need to print out what you need, if you need to print anything. To print, use 'COPY TELE.TXT PRN' to send the documentation to the printer. The files should end up on paper properly paginated and ready to be punched with holes on the left. Repeat the process for each file ending in ".TXT". You could use "COPY *.TXT PRN" to copy them all to the printer, but it could waste a lot of paper on manuals that you never use. Note that not all of the programs are the property of P. C. Softsmith. You should check the documentation if you adopt the tool. Any registered trademarks, and the like, belong to their respective owners. END
