In using BiModem on a two node system I was experiencing alot of lock- ups. I have finally, after frustrating alot of users, come up with a solution that seems to work for Bimodem on a 2 NODE system. I want to first thank Jerry Oliver of the Frisky Coco BBS in Kansas City for working on this problem with me and spending time an money on line to help work this problem out. Hats off to you Jerry! The solution to this problem was really quite simple. It was getting to the solution that was difficult. If I hadn't been using a non-standard IRQ on COM2 which required me to use a separate PROTO.DEF file for NODE2 for the use I DSZ (see PORTXDSZ.DOC enclosed) the solution may have been alot longer getting here. Finally, someone may have already figured this out but I haven't found anything out there that helped me so here goes: 1. I you are using a nonstandard IRQ base for any COM port create a PROTO.DEF file for for the NODE using that port. I have PROTO.DEF and PROTO2.DEF for my two NODEs (NODE 2 is using 2f8,IRQ2). Use config parameter 233 to identify your new PROTOx.DEF file. If not using nonstandard IRQs then only one PROTO.DEF file will be needed. 2. Make a directory off your RBBS directory for each node to place the files specific to each node in: C:\RBBS\1\, C:\RBBS\2, etc. 3. Place a copy of each file needed to run Bimodem on RBBS in each NODE specific directory (BIMODEM.COM, BICONFIG.COM, BIMODEM.CFG, BIMODEM.LOG BILIST. etc. ). 4. Configure Bimodem for each node in each directory so that no node accesses the Bimodem files of another NODE. It is extremely im- portant that Bimodem has a seperate CFG file for each NODE. 5. In your PROTO.DEF and or PROTOx.DEF files call bimodem using the path for the directory you set up for that NODE. You will also need to use the /C parameter. EXAMPLE: "B) Bimodem BATCH (2-WAY) . [95% Eff.] ",45,S,8,,B,2030,,0.95,,1=E,"C:\RBBS\[NODE]\BIMODEM.COM /C C:\RBBS\[NODE]\ BIMODEM.CFG /U [FILE] /L [PORT#] /B [BAUD]","C:\RBBS\[NODE]\BIMODEM.COM /C C:\RBBS\[NODE]\BIMODEM.CFG /D [FILE] /L [PORT#] /B [BAUD]" I hope to see Bimodem in use on more RBBS systems. I think it is a great protocol and that it shows alot of promise. It certainly let's you get alot done in one session while chatting in the process! If anyone has a better solution than this please let me know! This however, works for me! Tom Hansen, SysOp Church Chatters (tm) USR COURIER HST 3/12/24/9600 24hrs. Free Access! DATA: (308)872-3394
