This program installs the CMPQwk Reader 1.4 upgrade. You should use this even for upgrading 1.4 beta versions. The install will maintain your current configuration and program preferences as long as you install it into the current CMPQwk directory (if you have one). You'll be able to cancel out of this install (if you like) after this dialogue. Please read through this entire text file BEFORE continuing. You'll have the option to delete obsolete files required by prior versions. The install program will correctly update all prior releases from 1.1 or later. If you have been using 1.3 and selected Quick Exit the last time you closed the program, I'd like to suggest that you cancel out of this install, re-open the program, and *CLOSE* the QWK packet with a normal exit. You MUST have gotten and unpacked into a work directory *both* of the main program ZIP files before running this program. You can't upgrade your installation with only the first file. The Sound Upgrade has its own installation, if you downloaded that, you can run that upgrade after you've installed the main program. If you are installing from a floppy version, the sounds are included and you do not need to get the sound upgrade, but you will need to enable sounds (see below) if you have not used our program before. Internet users need only get CQWK140.ZIP, which is the entire program in one large file. Non-U.S. code-page users, we now have direct support for OEM to ANSI and ANSI to OEM! See the Reply Options section of the help file for further information on this. For information on registering, upgrading, and registering on CompuServe, see the section in the help file called Where can you Register? You'll be able to print forms for all type of registrations right from that section. You will be able to load registration help from the about box that appears when the program loads on unregistered systems. In this 1.4 release if you want old PKZip 1.1-compatible packing, you can select that in the Packer configuration dialogue. Check the box that enables "no compression" packing. The new internal packer is PKZip 2.x-compatible but can "emulate" 1.1-style packing. If you have gotten the required files, please proceed with the installation. Once you've installed it, you'll have the option to read through a Quick Tour QWK file that ships with it. I suggest you do that if you've never used it before. If you have, you can close it and get to reading and writing your mail. If you haven't used our program before and want to enable sound, you must do so in the Options, Read window options dialogue. Even if you procured the sound files you must enable sound, it is turned off by default. Please see the documentation for ways to reach us via various networks, CIS, etc. Thanks for trying CMPQwk Reader 1.4. We hope you enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
