Q:
    Where do I get WSSoup from?

A:
    All SIMTEL mirror sites should have it online shortly.
    Thank you for being patient if you have been unable to get WSSoup.

Q:
    If there a newsgroup that I can leave messages on to get help
    with WSSoup.

A:
    Try alt-usenet.offline-reader.

Q:
    I have installed the software as explained in the documentation.
    However, I get the following error:

        Unable to establish connection to (my.place.com) using (nntp)
    Err:([11004] Valid name, no data         record of requested type)

    OR
    ==

        Unable to establish connection to (555.555.555.555) using (nntp)
    Err:([11004] Valid name, no data         record of requested type)

    I have checked my .ini file and it all seems to be in order.  However, I
    must be missing something.  Any suggestings as to what to look for?

A:
    Make sure that you can access the news server using an online newsreader
    such as WinVN or Trumpet newsreader first. Some sites have a special
    node set up called news. So the host you need may be called
    news.my.place.com instead of my.place.com for example.

    Change the following lines in WSSoup.ini:

        NewsService=119
        SMTPService=25
        POP3Service=110

Q: I am getting a GPF at address .....

A: See the section entitled "REPORTING PROBLEMS" in WSSoup.txt for further
    information.

Q:  My offline news program expects a .ZIP packet, but the inbound directory
    contains a whole lot of 00000001.MSG, *.IDX and an AREAS file. And my
    offline news program creates a .ZIP file and I placed that in the
    outbound directory but nothing seemed to happen to it.

A:
    WSSoup does not create .ZIP files, but the contents of the .ZIP files.
    WSSoup can now help to automate the conversion using its PreProcess
    and PostProcess options. See the documentation for more details.

Q:
    I noticed that when YARN uncompressed the package it
    only used the .MSG files and spewed out the .IDX files, the ERRORS.
    files, the INFO. files and the TEMP.MSG file into it's TEMP
    directory.

A:
    Set the "DefaultNewsFormat" setting to "unn". This will prevent the
    .IDX files from being created. You can also use the "SOUP" command
    "newsindex n". Read the INFO and ERRORS files before deleting these
    files.

Q:
    I was wondering if you could post or email how to get WSsoup to retrieve
    just the headers first and then the selected articles...

A:
    See the documentation for details.

Q:
    Why doesn't WSSoup support NEWSRC?

A:
    What do you want WSSoup to do with NEWSRC? NEWSRC does not give WSSoup
    as much information as it needs and I am not sure what benefits WSSoup
    reading/writing to it gives? If you want some special kind of support
    then give me the details.

Q:
    I get the following error message when WSSoup tries to post news:
    
    Message was not posted ErrTxt:(441 Duplicate "Organization" header

A:
    Either remove the Organization line from WSSoup.ini, set it to "0" (zero)
    or have your offline news program not add the Organization line.

Q:
    I posted a message into alt-usenet-offline-reader but you didn't respond.

A:
    Work, family and other priorities make it difficult for me to respond
    to all requests for information and help, but I do try.
