Date: August 7, 1985 To: ALL 2400 bps modem users From: Jan Smoller - CJS Programming & Systems Subject: Crosstalk XVI version 3.5 operation at 2400 bps If you're getting frustrated with setting up your brand new Hayes 2400 bps modem for use with Crosstalk, DONT! Here are the modem control strings for Crosstalk: Dial Prefix: ATB1&C1&D2LVX4&WDT Answer Prefix: ATB1&C1&D2VS0=1| Crosstalk will now be able to control the modem in both originate and answer modes. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!HOWEVER!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you originate at 2400 bps and the answering modem is operating at 1200 bps, Crosstalk WILL NOT step the speed down to 1200 bps automatically, even though the modem will! You must hit Crosstalk's attention key (usually escape key, unless you've re- mapped it) and set the speed MANUALLY to 1200 bps. Per Microstuf, the NEXT version of Crosstalk will include the auto-speed step-down capability. The next version according to them is still three (3) months away from production. So until then we've got to do it ourselves...
