The PRNTCHK programs were developed to prevent the DBASE user from being returned to DOS in the event the printer was off or off-line. Unfortunately, they will not work in regular versions of DBASE. The "EXE" version may work in the developers version but it has not been tested. The "EXE" version will lock up the PC if run from the DOS prompt. The "COM" version will test the status of the printer when run from DOS and wait until the printer is ready. If you don't have a parallel printer attached the effect will be to also lock up your PC.
