PROCOMDL.COM [F] (C)COPYRIGHT 1986 BY STAN SPOTTS 30-DECEMBER-86 ProCommDL was written after seeing a similar program written by John O'Boyle supporting ProComm 2.3. Since I am one of those lucky (?) souls who get to test drive beta versions of ProComm, I found that I had to either create my own version or wait until AUTOPRCM.EXE was updated. Obviously, I moved towards the creationistic choice. I've added support of many host systems, including some of the more popular of the large commercial Network-based systems and some BBS software systems. Other nice touches (to me, at least) are: the implementation of the menu system and some of the input-verification code, which you may or may not notice. This program is freely given to the public domain, and you may use it or discard it as you see fit. However, if you're a commercial enterprise, I expect some $upport! The source code is not available, however, so that I can be sure that future versions are correct. This is also the first version I've allowed to leak out of my library, and it may or may not have some quirks I haven't found yet. Please let me know if anything doesn't work properly! If you have any questions, gripes, bug reports [shudder!], ideas, or even request for mods for new/old systems, please feel free to address them to me at: CompuServe : 76525,1060 The Source : BDZ895 American People/Link : STANS GEnie : STANS UUCP : bigbang!unimail!pcp!stans Of course, if the mod requests are not accompanied by a log file with examples of downloading single files, several files, and logging out from the file menu, it may take one helluva long time to implement them. Notes: 1. The setup for CompuServe assumes you have Menu[off], and you're at the "DL n !" prompt. 2. The setup for The Source assumes you're at the main "-->" prompt. If you've modified your main prompt, it will also work (albeit a bit slower when waiting for "-->" to show up). 3. The setup for American People/Link assumes you're at the clubs main "-->" prompt. 4. The setup for all other hosts assumes you're in the respective file section, ready to initiate a download (but the D hasn't been entered). 5. American People/Link has one of the screwiest setups I've seen. If ANYTHING may have a problem, it's this one! The implementation assumes that you're in MENU mode. It will still work in ADVANCED mode, but will take longer to execute since the WaitFor's have to time out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.42[F] - Released 30-Dec-86 - Fixed bug in CompuServe Xmodem implementation that wrote some of the .CMD file to the user screen. - Added prompt to first and last info screens so users know to hit to continue. - Added ability to change data libraries within the same forum to CompuServe implementation. You may now specify what library the file is in by prefacing the file name with the number of the DL, and a slash ("/") as a delimiter (E.g., 0/PCD242.ARC for the file PCD242.ARC in Data Library 0). If a DL number is not given, the current default is used, so if you specify DL 1 for the first file, the subsequent files are requested from DL 1 as well - until a new DL number is given. NO error correction is done to ensure that the DL number you give is valid. 2.42[E] - Released 19-Dec-86 - Fixed problem with some EGA cards. - Changed "!" chars (default mapping for for ProComm) to "^m" so as not to conflict with users who do not use "!" as the char. - Small mods to CompuServe implementation. It was not slowing the process down enough for CIS B downloads. - Force users into MENU mode for PLINK downloads. This will be changed in a future release. 2.42[D] - Released 06-Dec-86 - Added support of DBBS BBS. - Removed some debugging code that limited the number of files that could be downloaded in one script file to six. 2.42[C] - Released 23-Nov-86 - Greatly modified the American People/Link implementation to work more quickly, efficiently, and often. I SAID this one was going to be a tough one! - Added the missing Automatic logout to American People/Link. - Modified The Source implementation to handle the new command structure, thereby removing the dependency on the relative menu location. For example, if LIBRARY was moved from menu location 5, ProCommDL wouldn't work. - Internal cosmetic fixes. 2.42[B] - Released 14-Nov-86 - Fixes small (but deadly) bug in Collie system. First version had a typo that caused a double quote and an exlamation mark to be transposed. - FIDO implementation modified to handle more variations of FIDO, the BBS with the worlds-most-modified-prompts. - Removed bug that passed a keystroke after the program finished execution. Usually, this had no effect, but it was sloppy. 2.42[A] - First release 10-Nov-86. - For ProComm version 2.40 up to 2.42. - Download .CMD files can be generated for the following systems: Collie, PC-Host, FIDO, RBBS-PC, EXEC-PC, IBBS, PCBoard, TCOMM, The Source, American People/Link, CompuServe, and GEnie. - Automatic logout sequence available after download(s) complete.
