Here is a simple way I discovered one day while playing around with the QMODEM v3.1a register command, and typing badly: If the command line is entered as QMODEM rgister then the program will boot up without the 15-sec pause, as if registered, although it is still registered to [UNREGISTERED]. I do not feel that this violates the registration contract since it is explicitly stated in the docs that the 15-sec delay was not meant to cripple the program; therefore uncrippling it is not violating the registration, especially since the fix was not thru hacking the program but a bug on the programmer's side. Backdoors are not in the author's opinion immoral; exploiting existing circumstances is the American Way, and the programmer might have not been all that bad and put it in for enterprising folk.
