More Information about Hot Line Black-and-white monitors with CGA If you use Hot Line with a CGA (color graphics adapter) and a black-and-white monitor, the color Hot Line normally uses to highlight menu items and other selections may make the item illegible. This may also be a problem on portable machines where the monitor is built-in (such as Compaq machines). To fix this problem, use a /b option when installing Hot Line, telling it not to use colors (i.e. type "hotline /b"). COM3 and COM4 Hot Line supports modems using serial ports COM3 or COM4, using the PORT command in the MODEM menu. 3270 Emulation Hot Line now supports the Attachmate 3270 PC emulation program. Hot Line must be loaded after the Attachmate software is loaded. Invoking Hot Line when a host window is active will cause the status of the PC window (windowed or enlarged) to be changed to the status that was in effect when Hot Line was loaded. Thus, you may want to make the PC window windowed before you load Hot Line. You should not do this if you have an EGA; Hot Line will not realize that an EGA is attached and will not handle the screen correctly if you pop up over a program that is using EGA graphics modes. Thus, you should either always use the PC window enlarged, or always use it windowed (not using graphics programs). In order for Hot Line to pop up over a host window, the display mode must be set to ALL or NON-EGA. If it is TEXT, Hot Line will not pop up except when the PC window is active. If you pop up Hot Line with the Attachmate help window active, the screen will not be restored correctly when exiting Hot Line. Hitting ESC will exit from Help and restore the screen. You must not try to pop up Hot Line if PC concurrency is OFF; it will not work and you may have to reboot your system. Hot Line also supports the IRMA 3278 emulation. The IRMA software must be run in resident mode, and Hot Line must be loaded after it. The hotkey used for IRMA must be left at Shift-Shift.
