99 APPENDIX B USING CPA-LEDGER WITH FIXED DISK You may use CPA-LEDGER with fixed disk. (Fixed disk is also referred to as "hard disk".) Changes to CPA-LEDGER's computer programs are similar to the changes as described for micros with two diskette drives - see Appendix A. The only difference is that you modify the RUN commands to refer to the fixed disk rather than to the second diskette drive. Do that by substituting "C" for "A" in the RUN commands. For example, assume that one of the computer programs contains this command: . RUN "A:DAILY.BAS". Change the command to: . RUN "C:DAILY.BAS". Of course, both CPA-LEDGER and PC-DOS should be on fixed disk. Also, you might want to establish a separate subdirectory for CPA-LEDGER. Refer to your IBM Disk Operating System reference manual for details. The same reference manual covers other considerations that are beyond the scope of this appendix, such as: . Fixed disk drive letters, and . How to prepare your fixed disk. A major advantage of fixed disk is the additional space for recording your transactions. As discussed in Appendix C, one floppy diskette might not have enough room to accommodate your needs. In that event, fixed disk is an alternative.
