DIALOG BOXES About The About command from the System Menu brings up a dialog box to show information about the Personal CASE program. Open Design The Open command from the File menu uses a dialog box to select the name of the design to be opened. Control Usage Filename Type in name of file to be opened Filename List Choose name of file or directory to be opened from list. Path name Shows abbreviated MS-DOS pathname of currently selected directory. Read Only Check box to open the design for display and printing only. Open Click to open design, or press ENTER. Cancel Click to cancel command, or press ESC. Save Design The Save and Save As commands from the File menu use a dialog box to prompt for the file name to be used to save the design. Save Click to save file, or press ENTER. Cancel Click to cancel command, or press ESC. Printer Selection This dialog box appears as part of any of the commands from the Report menu. If allows you to select a printer for your report. Control Usage Select a printer Select the printer to be used from the list. Copies Number of collated copies of report to be printed. Draft quality Force printer into higher speed, lower quality mode, not supported by all printers. Pages Print all or a range of pages of the report. OK Click to begin printing, or press ENTER. Setup Call up additional setup information specific to your selected printer. Cancel Cancel the report, or press ESC. Data Flow Selection This dialog box appears to select which of the data flows connecting two components is to be manipulated when a selection is made with the Data Flow tool. Control Usage Current Data Flows: Choose from the list of data flows that connect the two components. Add Click to add a new data flow that components, rather than working with the listed ones. Delete/Change Click to delete or change the Data Flow Quick Reference 23 that was selected from the list, as appropriate. Cancel Cancel the Data Flow operation. Or press ESC. Format Character This dialog box is used by the Character command from the Format menu to selected typefaces to be used by text, Data Dictionary and reports. Control Usage Typeface Usage Determine application for typeface: descriptive text, dictionary text or printed dictionary reports. Font Name Name of typeface. Fonts Choose name of font to be used from list, shows font names for currently selected printer. Sizes Available point sizes for the chosen typeface, as supported by currently selected printer. Height Chosen font height. Boldface Check box to make typeface bold. Italic Check box to italicize typeface. Underline Check box to underline font. OK Click to use the selected typeface, or press ENTER. Cancel Click to cancel command, or press ESC. Format Page The Page command from the Format menu uses this dialog box to prompt for page layout information. The page layout affects the screen display and all printed reports. Control Usage Page Size Height and width of page in inches. Grid Specify grid size, make grid visible, Quick Reference 24 turn grid off. Margins Left, Right, Top and Bottom page margins in inches. Symbol Size Height and width of new components added to design. Does not affect components already in the design. OK Click here to use the new page layout, or press ENTER. Cancel Click here to cancel the command and leave the page layout unchanged, or press ESC. Format Titles The Titles command from the Format menu uses this dialog box to prompt for 5 lines of titles that can be included in the design's master page. Control Usage Line 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 The five lines of titles. OK Click here to use the new titles, or press ENTER. Cancel Click here to cancel the command and leave the titles unchanged, or press ESC. Page skip and Move The Skip and the Move commands from the Page menu use these dialog boxes to prompt for page numbers. Control Usage Page Number Number of page to be viewed or page after which to move current page. OK Click here to carry out the command, or press ENTER. Instance Dictionary label for the component's instance. ? Click to get a list of class or instance names currently in use. Global Check to make the dictionary information global, otherwise it is local. Hidden Check to suppress display of the dictionary description in the design image. Owner Click to view the page which is the owner of the selected parameter component. Details Click to view the detail page of the selected process component. Dictionary Browse The Browse command from the Dictionary menu uses this dialog box to display selected information from the Data Dictionary. Control Usage Component Type Select the type of Dictionary information to be viewed. Check the All box to view all types of Dictionary information. Label Type in a label and press TAB to view that label's Dictionary entry. ? Click to get a list of Dictionary labels currently in use. Global Check to retrieve a global Dictionary entry otherwise retrieves local entries. Hidden Check to suppress display of the dictionary description in the design image. Description Full description of the class or instance. May be changed. Scroll Bar Use to view different Dictionary entries. Move sequentially through entries in alphabetical label order. Update Click to store the dictionary information. Exit Click to leave the dialog. Owner Click to view the page which is the owner of the selected parameter component. Quick Reference 27 Dictionary Delete The Delete command from the Dictionary menu uses this dialog box to prompt for Dictionary entries to be deleted.
