Title:  Hayes 2400 Baud Modems 

 
 It has been found that some Hayes 2400 baud modems are not 
configured correctly to work with NetWare V2.0 and above ASYNC 
Bridges.  The same Bridge, however, will work with a Hayes 1200 
baud modem.  The error displayed on the screen by the 2400 baud 
modem response program reads "The modem (if it exists) is not 
responding to initialization efforts." On the 2400 baud modem, 
check to see if the firmware is set to the factory settings.  To 
do this, you should run the communication package of your choice. 
While in terminal mode, type the following: 
 
                        AT&F&W 
 
 The modem will then respond with an "OK." This will indicate 
that your modem is now set to the factory settings.  In most 
cases, resetting the modem as done above corrects the problem.
