Date: October 30, 1987 Number: 200 Title: SYSLOAD.EXE PATCH An inconsistency has been found in the way the partition table is defined by Novell's ELS NetWare Level I SYSLOAD utility and subsequently read by the PREPARE utility. When PREPARE is subsequently run, the following error message will appear: "Inconsistent Redirection Area" IF THE PROCESS IS CONTINUED WHEN THIS ERROR IS RECEIVED, DATA CORRUPTION MAY RESULT! Current shipments of ELS NetWare Level I contain a corrected SYSLOAD utility as will future shipments. The new SYSLOAD.EXE file has a size of 155809 and is dated 10-30-87. This corrected SYSLOAD properly defines the partition table. If the SYSLOAD.EXE file you have has a size of 155781 and is dated 10-1-87, then the following patch to PREPARE.EXE should be made which will allow PREPARE to accept the data placed in the partition table by SYSLOAD. >REN PREPARE.EXE *.TMP >DEBUG PREPARE.TMP -E CS:81CC 90 90 90 -W -Q >REN PREPARE.TMP *.EXE Performing this patch will prevent the error and avoid any data corruption.
