New features of Norton Utilities version 5.0:

FILE FIX - completely restores damaged files and their data

CACHE - disk caching program, includes Diskreet which allows
you to protect your files by creating a phony hard drive that
can be opened and closed with only a password.  Those who don't
have the password can't access either the drive or the data it
contains, even if they use Norton's low-level viewing tools.

CALIBRATE - is a program that can adjust disk interleave without
reformatting

FILE SAVE - allows you to specify how DOS should use erased
file space

DISK MONITOR - TSR that allows you to protect disks, files, and
system areas from unauthorized disk writes.  It informs users via
pop-up window of an applications attempt to write to disk and
requests approval.  Could be used as a virus protection in an attempt
to write to COMMAND.COM.  DM also contains a 'disk light' which appears
on screen whenever a disk is being accessed, ie. internal hard-card, or
a remote network drive.

All programs from Norton 4.5 will be included and all have been updated
and/or expanded in function.  The new version has an interface similar
to PC Tools 6.0, SAA, mouse driven (optional), but not a true Windows
application (that will come later).  Upgrade price will be $49.
Product should be avaialble in August 1990 (Norton 4.5 was out in
January 1989).
