Kenny; The following are what I had used as my DesQview hardware needs. That is in addition to the file that succeeds this one. Steve Cox ha d DV running and he sent me his set-up which I modified a little and I'll elaborate on in the text. However, most of the set-up came from Steves experience. I have his permission to send you the file he sent to me. To start with, as I set up GAP under DQ, I suggest that it ONLY be attempted using a 80386 machine. I had 1 meg on the mother board and 1.5 on the card I used. The way I broke it down for the software to get the proper settings was: Conventional Motherboard Memory: 640K Extended Motherboard Memory: 384K Extended Memory on the Card: 1536K Once given to the software in this manner all worked fine. Remember to say it is all as exTENded, not exPANded ram. Desqviews QEMM converts the memory for you. Using the above I was able to run with 2 windows open and work in a third to do my maintenaince and whatever. I ran mine with Memory Size set to 300k and Steve I believe had his set for 440k. I selected the smaller as I had much less exTENded memory than he did. Don't waste money and buy a EMS or EMMS card. I used a plain old 16 bit RAM card, the Everex 3000 Deluxe to be exact. It will take up to 3 megs of RAM. Also a serial card that will handle two modems. I used a Everex multi-I/O card. I believe it was called the "Magic" I/O card. When using 9600 baud modems I replaced the serial chip with the 16550AN UART Serial Chip as is documented in Foresburgs Zmodem Doc's. For the CONFIG.SYS I set it as follows; DEVICE=QEMM.SYS FCBS=48,48 FILES=99 BUFFERS=99 I used the PC Tools Disk Caching Program and set it for 512k Cache as Steve recommended. Also, I adjusted the Task Processing Time under Advanced Set-up. Desqview recommends it be run 3 and 3. I ran it 1 and 1 without any problem. I set DVANSI in the GAP.BAT as the 1st parameter. No problem running ANSI then. I also renamed XDV.COM to DV.COM per DV's recommendation. My hardware was as follows: Tandy 4000, 16 mhz 386 w/1 meg RAM on the motherboard Everex 3000 Delux w/1.5 RAM exTENded RAM. (I used 120ns chips) Everex "Magic" I/O card w/16550AN UART chip. US Robotics HST Modems both nodes. I can't think of anything more that I did and I believe that with this information plus Steves text you should have all of what I did to run the system under Desqview.
