Title: Chicago and Vicinity Scenery Enhancement Designed by: Stephen Hawk (73300,2477) Requirements: MS Flight Simulator V4.0 or later MS Aircraft and Scenery Designer subLogic scenery disk 9 (optional) IF YOU HAVE AN EARLIER VERSION OF ILORDS.ZIP, BE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR COPIES OF CHICAGO.SCI AND CHICAGO.DY1 TO SOMETHING LIKE CHICAGO.BK1 AND CHICAGO.BK2 BEFORE UNZIPPING. THIS IS IN CASE YOU PREFER THE EARLIER VERSION. Welcome to Version 2 of "Chicago & Vicinity". 20k static and 25k dynamic. Features include: A greatly enhanced O'hare field. All runways and major terminal buildings. V.2 has rather less gaudy approach lighting than V.1 did. Work on other airports includes: Aurora. Dupage County (includes mode). Runway 15-33 has been closed and converted to a taxiway, as it has been in reality. Runway 10 has a Cat.1 ILS, at frequency 109.05. Glenview Naval Air Station. VOR available (centered on 17-35) at freqency 116.4. Due to current world situation, be alert for frequent low-altitude Tomcat training flights. This real-world field is available in no other known Flight Simulator scenery. Midway. Runway 4R has a Cat.1 ILS, at frequency 111.50. Terminal building added. Buckingham fountain, and a number of additional buildings, downtown. Notably: the Merchandise Mart, Marina City, and Tribune Tower. A warehouse fire. Head west to search for it. My house (of course). A scattering of buildings and transmission towers throughout the area. Caveats and disclaimers: I am not a pilot, and have no aviation reference material, so all approach lighting was based on whim or hearsay. Except as noted, no navaids have been created or corrected. I have strived for accuracy in building and runway location, however. Any suggestions for improved reality will be welcomed. Development was based on default scenery. My enhancements will work with SD-9, but buildings are transparent (roads beyond them show through), and some O'hare runways will need to be repositioned or deleted. I run an 80386 computer, so decisions about scenery density / frame rate are based on that. The only areas of concern should be O'hare and downtown; I had to suspend work at both places because things were getting jerky even on the '386. Also a note on the file name, ILORDS.ZIP. IL is for ILlinois, ORD is the airport code for O'hare, and S was to have been my initials, SH, but CI$ truncates upload file names to 6 characters. Enjoy your visit to Chicago! Additions to Ilords (by Jim Loebach): I have made a major addition to Ilords in the Aurora Airport. There is now ATIS and an ILS. The ATIS freq. is 125.85 and the ILS frequency is 108.9. I also made use of SEE files. At Midway Airport I belive I added ILS's on runways 4R, 13R, and 31L. ILS freqs.: 4R-111.5 13R-109.9 31L-109.9 If there are any question leave me a message. IF ANY BODY WANTS TO DO A DETAILED PAL-WAUKEE AIRPORT I WOULD SEND YOU MAPS OF THE AIRPORT TO HAVE IT DONE WITH. JIM LOEBACH
