the following is a release by the united states  geological  survey,
national   earthquake   information  center:   a  strong  earthquake
occurred in the andreanof islands, aleutian  islands,  alaska  about
110  miles  (180 km) northwest of adak, alaska at 9:01 am MST today,
mar 13, 1992.  the magnitude was computed  at  6.1  on  the  richter
scale.   the  quake was recorded by the u.  s.  geological survey at
golden, colorado.  the earthquake was felt on adak.   there  are  no
reports of damage at this time.
