the following is a release by the united states  geological  survey,
national   earthquake   information  center:   a  strong  earthquake
occurred in turkey about 40 miles (60 km.) north of erzincan or  350
miles  (560 km.) east of ankara at 10:19 am MST today, mar 13, 1992.
the magnitude was computed at 6.8 on the richter scale.   the  quake
was  recorded  by the u.  s.  geological survey at golden, colorado.
there are no reports of casualties or damage at this time.
