********  REINSTALLATION

1]  VERY IMPORTANT:  You must run the install program (follow the instructions
below) to change your existing menu, index and phone book data files to the new
format.  ** YOU CAN NOT SIMPLY COPY THE NEW FILES! **

********  INSTALLATION

1]  IMPORTANT:  You must run the install program from a floppy drive for the 
program to function.  To do this you should have a program diskette.

2]  If you do not have a BIGMENU program diskette then create one by copying 
the following (14) files to the root directory of a floppy disk: 
        
        [file]             [description]
        ACTIVE   PRG       Tracks the active menu. 
        BM4_M    PRG       Holds program characteristics.
        CHECKDSK BAT       Sample batch file.
        COLORSET PRG       Holds default program colors.
        INSTALL  EXE       Install program.
        MENU4    EXE       Menu program. Can not be executed without BM4.BAT.
        MESSAGE  PRG       Holds daily messages.
        PB2      DTA       Holds phone book data.
        PHONE_BK IDX       Holds phone book index.
        README   TXT       This file.
        README   BAT       Runs README.TXT.
        UTILITY  MNU       Sample menu.
        UTILITY  FIL       Sample menu characteristics file.
        UTILITY  IDX       Sample menu index.

If you do have a program disk then make sure the above files are on the disk.
The lastest release is 3-9-92.  All of the above files should be dated 3-9-92.

3]  Use the following commands in DOS to install (first time) or reinstall:
        To install from the A: drive ==>
        (Put your program diskette into the A: drive)
        C:\> A:
        A:\> INSTALL

        To install from the B: drive ==>
        (Put your program diskette into the B: drive)
        C:\> B:
        B:\> INSTALL

4]  Reinstallation will convert your existing BIGMENU data and menu files to
the new improved format.

********  UPLOADING TO A BULLETIN BOARD

1]  Use your communications program to upload BIGMENU4.ZIP to your local 
bulletin boards.  If you do not have BIGMENU4.ZIP then you must create it by
following the instructions listed below (2).

2]  Copy the (14) program files (above) to a temporary directory on your hard 
drive.  Use a compression utility to compress the program files into one file.
Upload the compressed file (BIGMENU4.ZIP) to the bulletin board.
        Commands used to compress BIGMENU program files:
                (create a temporary directory)
                        C:> MD\TEMP            
                (copy the 14 program files to the TEMP directory)
                        C:> COPY [program files] C:\TEMP  
                (use PKWARE to compress program files creating BIGMENU4.ZIP)
                        C:> PKZIP -a BIGMENU4.ZIP C:\TEMP\*.*
                (use your communications program to upload BIGMENU4.ZIP)

********  OTHER INFORMATION

1]  To print this file use the following command at the DOS prompt:
        C:> TYPE README.TXT >PRN

3]  To register:  Print a registration form by choosing <F8> in any menu.
Registration is only $35.  If you would like an unregistered up to date copy
of BIGMENU then send $5 to the address above and please specify floppy disk
size (5.25 in. or 3.5 in.) and density (360K, 720K, 1.2M, or 1.44M).
