This server has standards for the 1988 CCITT Recommendations (Blue Book) and more modern versions of CCITT standards. Look in the directory named ~ftp/pub/standards/ccitt/1988 for the Blue Book. A file named blue.book.org explains the naming scheme. Three formats are available: Troff, Ascii, and Postscript. Each is stored in a subdirectory and the files bear the extensions troff, txt, and ps. The directory ~ftp/pub/standards/ccitt/1992 contains more modern standards or more modern versions of the Blue Book (modern meaning the document formatting system not the standard itself). Subdirectories are labelled by the types of recommendations (i.e., x for the X Series). Files are stored in several different formats: wp5 for Word Perfect, Version 5 rtf for Microsoft's Rich Text Format doc for Microsoft Word for Windows asc for ASCII text. txs for Samna. Some graphics are stored in ~ftp/pub/standards/graphics. These were scanned in and are offered in TIFF and EPS formats. Be aware that there are gaps in the standards due to conversion problems. This means that not every standard is available in every format. For those standards available only in the Blue Book directory, there were notable conversion difficulties on formulas and tables. There are no V or X series documents in the Blue Book directory. We appreciate your patience with this initial release of the Blue Book. If you need a definitive version of the standards, you are STRONGLY advised to purchase the paper copy. You mail mail comments to standards@digital.resource.org. It may take us some time to respond to your messages, so please be patient.
