The following files are used to setup and run 1dir+ from Windows: 1DIR_WIN.EXE 1DIR_WIN.PIF *.ICO (icon files) Simply copy these files into the 1DIRPLUS sub-directory. The following rules must be followed: There must be a PATH to the sub-directory that 1DIRPLUS.EXE resides in. There must be a valid COMSPEC statement in the environment. (normally OK, without doing anything) Adding 1dir+ to Windows ----------------------- Make Main (or whatever your preference) the active window Select File in the Program Manager Menu, then Select New. (This should display the "New Program Object" dialog box) Make sure "Program Item" is selected, then select OK. (This should display the "Program Item Properties" dialog box) Enter "1dir+" (without the quotes) in the Description field in the "Program Item Properties" dialog box, and then press [Tab] to move to the Command Line field. Enter the full path name for the 1DIR_WIN.PIF file in the Command Line field. Example: C:\1DIRPLUS\1DIR_WIN.PIF Select OK. Changing the Icon ----------------- We have supplied icon files named 1DIRPLUS.ICO and 1DIR.ICO. These files should be in your 1DIRPLUS sub-directory. You may use either of these or keep the DOS icon used as the default icon. To change the icon: Highlight the current 1dir+ icon and select File|Properties from the Program Manager Menu Bar. Select Change Icon. Type in the full pathname for 1dirplus and the icon file name. Example: C:\1DIRPLUS\1DIRPLUS.ICO Select OK. Select OK to save the current Properties. Notes on running 1dir+ from within Windows. ------------------------------------------- 1dir+ runs just as it would from DOS. It is still a DOS program !!!! Pressing [Ctrl C] to exit 1dir+ will not return you to Windows. To close and return to Windows, from Compose or a DOS prompt, type in: EXIT and press [Enter] After typing EXIT, if you are running in Real or Standard Windows mode, the Windows TSR manager will inform you "Your TSR is loaded..." Simply press [Ctrl C] when the message appears to return to Windows. In Enhanced mode, you automatically get EMS, so you could set the 1dir+ memory mode to EMS/(w/o Stack) in the 1dir+ SetUp. You can also do this if you have EMS memory normally. If you are using 1dir+ for file management only, you can set the 1dir+ memory mode to Fully resident in the 1dir+ SetUp, since very little will be gained by being in partially or EMS modes for file management.
