Included is information on installing the game on a hard disk, how to start the program, and special configuration options. Enjoy! System Requirements: -------------------- IBM/Tandy and 100% compatibles with 640k free memory -graphics adaptor (Hercules, CGA, EGA, VGA, or MCGA) w/ display -a 1.2 Megabyte disk drive recommended: a hard drive (with 1.5 Megabytes free) a Microsoft(r) compatible mouse (with driver installed) -OR- a joystick To play Passport to Adventure from the floppy disk: --------------------------------------------------- 1. Turn on your monitor first, then your computer. 2. Boot your computer with DOS. If you have a mouse or joystick, make sure it is connected and the mouse driver is installed. 3. Insert the floppy with label side up into the disk drive. 4. Switch to the correct floppy drive (for example, type A: and press ). 5. Type SAMPLER to start the game. Installing Passport to Adventure on a Hard Drive: ------------------------------------------------- 1. Boot your computer. If you have a mouse or joystick, make sure it is connected and the mouse driver is installed. 2. Insert the floppy with the label side up into drive A. 3. If your hard drive is drive C, type INSTALL C: This will create a directory called SAMPLER on your hard drive and will copy all games files to the hard disk. Also it will put you into the SAMPLER directory, and prompt you with on-screen instructions to run the Sampler. Loading instructions for Hard Drive: ------------------------------------ 1. Turn on your monitor first, then your computer. 2. Boot your computer with DOS. If you have a mouse or joystick, make sure it is connected and the mouse driver is installed. 3. Type the correct hard drive letter (for example, if you installed the Sampler on drive C, type C: ) 4. Change to the Sampler directory: Type CD\SAMPLER . 5. Type SAMPLER to run the Sampler. Options for the Passport to Adventure: -------------------------------------- Although the Sampler automatically determines which is the best graphics mode to use, you may force the Sampler to use different options: c CGA graphics t Tandy(r) graphics m MCGA graphics e EGA graphics v VGA graphics k Keyboard j Joystick mo Mouse i Internal speaker ts Tandy sounds g CMS/GameBlaster sounds a AdLib(tm) or CMS/SoundBlaster sounds For example, in order to play with EGA Graphics and a mouse, type: SAMPLER e mo Choosing which game to play: ---------------------------- After the Lucasfilm Games logo appears on your screen, you will see three icons for the three games included on the disk. Moving the cursor (with either your mouse, joystick, or the arrows on your keyboard) over the icons will bring up a short description of each game. To select a game to play, move the cursor over an icon until a highlighted box appears around it and "click" with the mouse or joystick button, or press (if using keyboard). The screen will fade to black and the selected game will begin. Keyboard Controls explained: ----------------------------- F1 - Help F5 - Save-Load F6 - Sound/Music control (Loom only) F8 - Restart Sampler ESC - To skip certain cut-scenes space - To pause game + key - To speed up text speed - key - To slow down text speed Ctrl-S - Sound Toggle (internal speaker only) Ctrl-R - Screen Scroll Toggle Ctrl-C - Quit to DOS F1 - Help A help screen can be brought up almost anytime by pressing F1. This game-sensitive screen will have all the instructions needed to interact with the current game environment. Also available at the main menu. F5 - Save-Load menu This screen, available at anytime, will allow you to save the progress of each game and load any of the previously-saved games. Play and Quit buttons are also found on the screen. F6 - Sound/Music control (Loom only) In the Loom portion of Passport to Adventure, pressing F6 will turn on and off the sounds and the music. F8 - Restart Sampler This completely restarts Passport to Adventure from the menu screen. You may want to first save your game! ESC - Skip sequence This button allows the player to skip certain non-player-action sequences. space bar - To pause game This will pause and unpause the game. + key - Text speed-up This will speed up the text in the game. - key - Text slow-down This will slow down the text in the game. Ctrl-S - Toggle Sound (internal speaker only) This will turn on and off the sounds coming from the internal speaker. Ctrl-R - Screen Scroll Toggle This allows the player to choose a scrolling style.
