Micro-Fone Telephone Dialer and Phonebook Copyright © 1992 by Fred L. Freel and Micro-Bytes\Wordware All rights reserved. Installation: We recommend that you create a seperate directory for Micro-Fone and it's files to reside in. Once you have the files in a dedicated User Directory, Open the FILE MANAGER, and reduce it to a size that will allow the PROGRAM MANAGER viewable at the same time. Open a window in the PROGRAM MANAGER where you would like Micro-Fone to reside. With the files in the User Directory you've created visible in the FILE MANAGER, and the open window visible in the PROGRAM MANAGER, click on the file MB-Fone.exe. Holding the mouse button down, drag the MB-Fone.exe file into the open PROGRAM MANAGER window. As far as Windows is concerned, Micro-Fone is now pathed to. However, you must click on the Micro-Fone icon and check it's properties in the PROGRAM MANAGER FILE window. It's "working directory" should be the User Directory you've created. Setup: The accompanying MB-Fone.ini file has been preconfigured for Com 2 and no dialing prefix. These defaults may be modified by selecting "Setup" in the Micro-Fone window. A check-mark is used to indicate the status of the Com Port selected, while the status of the default use of the prefix can be determined by the "Use Prefix" box in the Micro-Fone window. Operation: Is fairly straight-forward. From the Micro-Fone window, choose the "FoneBook" Menu to "Open" an existing FoneBook, or create a new one with the "New" option. If the "New" option is selected, fill in the information requested in the Micro-Fone window. When you click the "Add" button, your new FoneBook will be updated. If you "Open" an existing FoneBook, you will be provided with a sorted list of names and your reference as to the phone numbers they are related to. A name may be highlighted with a click of the mouse and "Select"ed from the Menu, a double-click on the name will have the same effect. Each phone book has a capacity of 100 parties. The "parties" box in the Micro-Fone window will alert you as to the total parties you have in the Opened FoneBook. Once a FoneBook is "Open," the "Get Party" Menu selection will allow you to toggle back to the FoneBook list to get another number to dial. When adding new names to your FoneBook, it is advisable, but not necessary, that you enter information into the "Comments" field in the Micro-Fone window. This will allow you to add different numbers for a given name, like one for their home and another for their office, or for different departments in a business list. If you have several numbers to add for a given address, as with company departments, use the "Get Party" menu to select the original entry, and modify the Number and Comment fields as required. Then "Add" that record. The database will be up dated with all of the original information, plus the changes to the fields you altered. The action buttons, Dial, ReDial, Add and Delete are self explanatory. Remember, however, to click the "Use Prefix" box before making a long distance call, or vice-versa for a local call. This, of course, depends on how you have the default use of the prefix configured. History: Rev 1.0 Basic telephone dialer. Requires modem utilizing Com's 1, 2, 3 or 4.
