RapTure BBS Version 1.00 DEMO September 3rd, 1991 Copyright 1991 by Real World Computer Systems DISCLAIMER: This is a DEMO version of the forthcoming RapTure BBS System. The final production version may or may not look like this DEMO. RapTure BBS has been developed completely from the ground up, without having used any pieces of anybody else's code. RapTure BBS has been written in C and 80x86 assembler languages. The windowing features of RapTure BBS have been developed using TCXL 5.52, which is a product of Innovative Data Concepts, copyright 1990-1991. INSTALLTION: The installation of RapTure BBS has been made as simple as possible. Run the INSTALL.EXE program included in this archive. INSTALL will create the necessary directories for RapTure BBS to run, as well as some of the necessary files. Once the INSTALL program has completed, move the RAPTURE.EXE file into the RapTure BBS directory. EXECUTION: Type "RAPTURE" from the RapTure directory to run the RAPTURE.EXE executable. The WFC ( Waiting For Callers ) menu will be displayed, along with many pull-down menus. Any command available in any of the pull-down menus is accessible at any time from the WFC menu, with or without having the menu active. Many of the video functions are able to be toggled from the System Configuration module ( such as BIOS video, exploding windows, etc. ). RapTure BBS will allow you, the local user, to log on as a new user and fill out the New User Information screen. Aside from that, the logon features have not been developed. But, just about all of the WFC functions ( System Configuration, etc ) are functional. CONTACTING RWCS: Please do not attempt to contact Real World Computer Systems directly, as we are hard at work continuing the development of RapTure BBS. If you have any suggestions, or any problems setting up the software, please contact Rick Abramovich at 1:2200/111@fidonet. He will accept suggestions, reports of possible bugs, likes and or dislikes, and resolve installation problems. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANACES make any comments about this software in the TELEGARD FIDOnet Conference, as TELEGARD is devoted to the discussions of TELEGARD and related products. Although RapTure is based on the concept of TELEGARD, and has the "look and feel" of Telegard ( to alleviate some of the problems with moving to a new software package for existing Telegard SysOps ) RapTure BBS and Real World Computer Systems has NOTHING to do with the Telegard Development Team ( which at this time only comprises only of Martin Pollard ). FUTURE: Once RapTure BBS has been completed, it will be released to the public as commercial-only software. We will make a product announcement before that time with prices and distribution sites. Here is a partial list of some of the planned features of RapTure BBS: - Multi-Node ( LANs, DesqView, Windows, etc. ) - Mutli-Line ( DigiBoard, etc ) - Mutli-Tasking, allowing the SysOp to do just about ANYTHING while a user is online, including modifying the BBS setup, or reading mail, or a myraid of other procedures. - Internal FIDOnet compatible NetMail, GroupMail, EchoMail. - Eventual ports to other platforms - i.e. VMS, OS/2, Unix. - Conferencing. - Full Screen Message Editor. - Full Mouse Support. - ANSI, AVATAR, TTY, VT100 Emulation. - A variety of other features already found in many other BBS packages. SOFTWARE LICENSE: No one may modify or patch the RapTure BBS executable files in any way, including but not limited to decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise reverse engineering the program. A limited license is granted to copy and distribute RapTure BBS for the use of others, subject to the above limitation, and also the following: RapTure BBS must be copied in unmodified form, complete with this file containing this license information.
