This README file of BELW16.ZIP accompanies BELOW16.DSK for NetWare v3.10. The following files are included for this revision: BELOW16.DSK 2788 04-08-91 1:19p This file is for DMA LAN adapters and Disk Controllers with 24 bit address lines that require memory allocation below 16 MB. This module provides developers with two function calls under NetWare v3.10 to guarantee allocation of memory under 16 Mb. When installing this file be aware of the following issues: 1. BELOW16.DSK must be loaded before any other module. 2. By default BELOW16 allocates 8 buffers (the default buffer size is 4096 bytes as defined in "Cache Buffer Size"). To over-ride the number of buffers, the following syntax may be used in STARTUP.NCF: LOAD BELOW16 number where "number" is the number of buffers. Changes to the number of buffers allocated should only be made at the recommendation of the manufacturer. To install this version of BELOW16.DSK: 1) Copy BELOW16.DSK into the directory that contains your disk driver(s). 2) Edit STARTUP.NCF to include a statement to load BELOW16.DSK. REMEMBER: BELOW16.DSK must be loaded before any other modules! 3) Down the server and bring it back up. ***************************************************************** DISCLAIMER Novell, Inc. makes no representations or warranties with respect to any NetWare software, and specifically disclaims any express or implied warranties of merchantability, title, or fitness for a particular purpose.
