Configuration for ATI2400etc with v.42 (External or Internal) for GAP BBS

Go into your communications program and type the following:

You should end up with the following settings:
B1 E0 L3 M0 N1 Q0 T V1 W2 X4 Y0

The most important setting is the &B1.  This keeps the modem LOCKED at
the DTE speed.

   In GAPSETUP, configure your modem for GAP as follows:

          Modem Reset String : ATZ1{~~
           Modem Init String : ATH0{~~
       Modem Off-Hook String : ATM0H1      <---Note: NO { or ~~
 Seconds to wait for carrier : 60
 Seconds to wait for connect : 2           <---Note: Increase if needed

            Initial BPS Rate : 9600
               Lock BPS Rate : Y
  Answer on True Ring Detect : Y
    Full flow Zmodem uploads : Y
  Send BREAK to clear buffer : Y
  User Inter Character Delay : N

**When the modem initializes at the bottom of the 'Call-Waiting' screen you**
**should see 2 ok's, not 3 as mentioned in the manual. (e.i: ATZ~~ OK OK)  **

NOTES:  1)  Although this modem is very reliable and error-free, it is a bit
            slow to respond to the RING signal, but should not be a problem.

        2)  You might find that at times the modem does NOT go Off-Hook when
            shelling to DOS/GAPCALL/GAPMAINT and what not.
