Select different demos from the menu that appears. The menu items followed with a "(G)" are TCXL/Graphics demos. If the demonstration executable is not available, the menu selection for it is non-selectable. A few items you may find of interest: þ Graphical mouse cursor, even in text mode! þ Graphical icons in text mode! (Try pressing Alt-X inside TCXLDEMO. Then press Alt-I a few times. While you're at it, watch what happens to the mouse cursor when you press Alt-C....) þ Virtual windows with scroll bars! (You can see this in the window demo, as well as several places in the menu and selection demos.) Notice how the nouse cursor changes when you drag the scroll button. þ Try out the Scroll Demo. Who says you can only write to one window at a time!? þ Fancier help! Press F1 just about anywhere, or click on Information at the main TCXLDEMO menu. Notice the new buttons, especially the one labelled Index -- this brings up an automatically-generated index to all cross-referenced items in the help database. Check out the mouse cursor as you move onto a cross-reference. Some other interesting things that aren't quite as visible: þ Externalized strings: The help file contains ALL the literal text that is used in the demo programs, as well as 98% of TCXL's internal strings. The help file itself is compressed and indexed. þ Virtual memory: Makes automatic use of EMS, XMS, conventional, or disk memory, as needed. For example, we read the entire compressed help file into virtual memory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- More demonstration programs will be uploaded here as they become available.
