Beaver Creek Resort - Lace 18 Comments and Course Notes Course Name: Beaver Creek Resort - Lace 18 Location: Near the Three Sisters Wilderness in Oregon Length\Par: 7313 yards\ par 73 - championship tees Wind: Strong, west wind Design: JNSE design by Jim Morrow. Original design layout done as JNUG course - never completed. During July and August, 1992 completed as JNSE design. Source: 'The 1992 Viewers Guide to Professional Golf' published by Intergolf. Objects and Backgrounds: I believe the background comes from Gene Rodriguez III; objects can be attributed to Scott Chesney, Lee Ritze, Mark Willett, Gene Rodriguez, Keith Holzapfel among others. If I missed someone, I sincerely apologize. Special thanks to: Bill Claybourn, Rod Harris and Lonn Iris who play tested the course, gave me good advice - some of which I may have too stubborn to accept and encouraged me to upload this course to one of the BBS. Also, to Paul Conrad who told me how to fix my water... yes some streams flow uphill. All of four courses at Beaver Creek have its origins from other famous courses in the USA and Canada. The 'best' or the most exciting holes were not selected, but mainly hole layouts that fit into the lake and mountainous surroundings. All hole layouts have a close resemblance to the specific hole selected; however, the elevation and length of the green will vary. So will the shape of the green and the fairways. Then I added objects, mostly trees to strategic areas. In most cases, the trees have no semblance to the original hole. Championship, pro, men and ladies tees were set up. Since the layouts were originally set up for JNUG and the length to compensate for the distance off the tee, the yardage at 7313 yards is probably too long for JNSE. The course is much shorter from the mens and pro tees. I believe a championship course played from the 'back' tees should be a challenge, and as you move closer to the target, you challenge is decreased. Thus I left the tees as 7313 yards. For the BC Lace 18, the designers at Chasing Rainbows used the following hole layouts to develop the championship course: 1 - Mauni Lani - # 8 10 - Bay Hill - 18 2 - English Turn - 4 11 - Glen Abbey - 12 3 - Weston Hills - 18 12 - TPC Avenel - 13 4 - Glen Abbey - 12 13 - Pebble Beach - 7 5 - Kingsmill - 12 14 - TPC - Connecticut - 15 6 - La Costa - 6 15 - Innisbrook - 12 7 - Weston Hills - 5 16 - Doral - Blue - 9 8 - Doral - Blue - 3 17 - Weston Hills - 9 9 - TPC Southwind - 3 18 - Stonebridge - 18 The Beaver Creek- Lace 18 yardage card: Hole 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 OUT Par 4 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 5 36 Pro 416 384 589 210 424 434 256 434 530 3677 Hole 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 IN Total Par 5 4 5 3 4 4 3 4 5 37 73 Pro 541 456 533 106 341 442 213 450 554 3636 7313 If you are looking for the 'caddy card', I hate to disappoint you, but you will have to develop your own. We all play these courses much differently. Some hit fades - right or left, some hit through the power bar, and some play conservative. I believe on Lace 18, you will have to hit fades on some holes, hit very conservative on others and gamble with the power bar on others. Its now up to you to determine which holes play to strengths and which to your weaknesses. I hope you enjoy your round(s) and can't wait until the Beaver Creek Silk and Denim 18's are complete. The Silk 18 is now in the layout stages. The Denim 18 is on the drawing board. The Chasing Rainbows Development Corp. is also urging for the completion of their second Bahamas course. That's not far away, only three more holes to complete, then play test begins.
