TITLE: Obtaining Updated Text Import/Export Filters for Ami Pro PRODUCT: Ami Pro 3.0 DATE: 04-Dec-1992 PROBLEM: What changes have been made to Ami Pro release 3.0 import and export filters? SOLUTION: All changed Ami Pro 3.0 text filters are included on a filters disk. The filters disk can be obtained electronically from the Lotus WPD bulletin board at 404-395-7707 or from the [Ami Pro-Technotes] library on the LotusWP CompuServe forum. Download the file FILT30.EXE from either location. The disk can also be obtained from the Lotus WPD Customer Service Department at 404-399-5505. CHANGES TO IMPORT/EXPORT FILTERS ON FILTERS DISK Filter Name File Name Description of change MultiMate MM.FLT Files exported as MultiMate from Ami Pro now are correctly seen by MultiMate as document files. Previously MultiMate files created in Ami Pro were seen as library files in MultiMate. DCA/RFT RFT.FLT Now creates a frame at the location of a graphic in a DCA/RFT file. The frame contains a Windows Metafile image stating that the graphic format is not supported. This Metafile can be deleted from the frame and another graphic image can be imported into the frame or the frame can be left as a placeholder. Now allows for top margin on first page to be larger than on subsequent pages. Rich Text RTF.FLT Now imports a Rich Text file containing a style sheet quick key (the quick key is not implemented in Ami Pro, however). Now supports decimal representation of highbit numbers. Previously such numbers may have imported in Ami Pro as text in table cells rather than as numbers. Samna Word SAMNA.FLT No longer creates a lost cluster of 204K Bytes on hard drive. MS Word DOS WORD.FLT Style names can now contain highbit characters (characters above 128 in the IBM character set). WordPerfect WP.FLT Import has a new option to "Save style 5.0 and 5.1option as default". Once this option is checked, the style option chosen is saved in the AMIWP.INI file and the style options dialog box no longer appears. WordPerfect filter now supports font export. Point size and color exports, however, the face name may not export because of the differences in font names in WordPerfect. Supports importing bold and italic fonts when the WordPerfect document specifies bold italic fonts (not font attributes). No longer locks up when exporting fonts to WordPerfect format. Previously Ami Pro documents saved in WordPerfect format may have contained information for fonts not available in WordPerfect which WordPerfect could not interpret. Imports most bullets in WordPerfect sets 1, 2, 4, and 5 and some bullets in set 6. Note: You must use Adobe Type Manager or TrueType fonts to import these bullets. Special ATM and TrueType fonts are provided on the filters disk for this purpose. Now imports decimal tabs. Previously the decimal tap stop was created on a tab ruler, but the tab character was not included in the text. Imports WordPerfect strikeout as Ami Pro revision delete and WordPerfect redline as Ami Pro revision insert. WordPerfect date codes import as Ami Pro date marks (equivalent to Edit / Insert / Date/Time). Previously, WordPerfect date codes imported as regular text. Lines around WordPerfect frames import as lines around an Ami Pro frame. The line style is matched when an equivalent line style is available in Ami Pro. Note: Lines around WordPerfect character frames (frames that flow with text) do not import into Ami Pro. Text that wraps around a frame in an imported WordPerfect file wraps around the resulting Ami Pro frame. Note: Text wrapping around WordPerfect character frames (frames that flow with text) does not wrap around these frames when imported into Ami Pro. If any area of a WordPerfect file contains line numbering, line numbering is enabled for the entire file when imported in Ami Pro. HOW TO INSTALL THE FILTERS DISK 1. Exit Ami Pro if it is running. 2. In the Windows Program Manager run File Manager. 3. In File Manager copy the file FILT30.EXE to the Ami Pro program subdirectory (this is usually C:\AMIPRO). 4. In the Ami Pro program subdirectory, run the file FILT30.EXE by selecting the file name and pressing ENTER or double clicking on the file name. The utility used to compress the files executes as a DOS application. Since the filter files already exist in your Ami Pro program subdirectory, a message asking Y or N to overwrite an existing file appears with each file being extracted. Specify Y to overwrite each file. 5. Move the file AMIWP.INI from the Ami Pro program subdirectory to the Windows program subdirectory (usually C:\WINDOWS). Choose Yes confirmation to replace the existing file. 6. If you use Adobe Type Manager (ATM), follow steps a. and b. below, otherwise go to step 7. a. Move the files LOWP____.PFB to the PSFONTS subdirectory (if ATM was installed with the default settings that subdirectory will be C:\PSFONTS). b. Move the file LOWP____.PFM to the PFM subdirectory (if ATM was installed with the default settings this subdirectory will be C:\PSFONTS\PFM). 7. If you use TrueType fonts move the file LOWP____.TTF to the Windows System subdirectory (this is usually C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM). 8. Delete the file FILT30.EXE and any of the files LOWP____.PFM, LOWP____.PFB, or LOWP____.TTF still remaining from the Ami Pro program subdirectory. 9. Press ALT + F4 to close the File Manager. 10. If you use ATM, run the ATM Control Panel and add the font LotusWPSet. If you use TrueType run the Windows Control Panel and select Fonts, then choose Add to add the font LotusWPSet.
