User is Unable to Attach to a Btrieve Database. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Access version 1.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary: SYMPTOMS When you try to attach to a Btrieve database you get an error message when you choose the FILE.DDF: Table is exclusively locked. or Couldn't open file . CAUSE Whenever Microsoft Access tries to attach to a table, it needs to open the target table exclusively tempoarily. If the target Btrieve table is open by any other users at the same time that Microsoft Access tries to attach to the table, one of the above error messages will be returned. RESOLUTION The only workaround at this time is to find an available time when the target Btrieve table is not being used by any other users. Once Microsoft Access has attached to the Btrieve table, you should not receive the above error messages.
