Ken Deen's THE AGGRESSIVE TRADER(tm) "Seeking double-digit profits in one to four months" ALERT Vol. 2, No. 51 P.O. Box 4791 March 25, 1993 Santa Barbara, CA 93140 10:00am New York Time CompuServe: 72020,2050 (805) 565-2039 Internet: 72020.2050@compuserve.com Market Stance: Neutral *** ALERT ITEMS: *** Marginable Account (editor's personal account): No trades IRA Account (editor's personal account): No trades DESI(tm) Account (a computer-simulated hypothetical account): No trades DESI(tm) Buy/Sell Signals (computer-generated): None Other Strong Recommendations (these stocks will be tracked and followed up with a sell alert): * Decorator Industries (AMEX: DII, $18.88) EPS:82, RS:97, GR:41->22, PE:11, Textile-Home Furnishing *** TRADING IDEA ITEMS (There will be no followup on these ideas): *** Breakouts (The following stock(s) have excellent sales and earnings growth, and have just broken out from a six-week or longer base.): * Decorator Industries (AMEX: DII, $18.88) EPS:82, RS:97, GR:41->22, PE:11, Textile-Home Furnishing * Premier Bancorp Inc. (NASDAQ: PRBC, $18.13) EPS:95, RS:89, GR:55->47, PE:9, Banks-Southeast Decorator Industries I am refraining from buying this stock only because I prefer to buy on earnings reports, and first quarter earnings will be coming out in a few weeks. However, this looks like such a good buy that I am recommending it under my "Other Strong Recommendations" category. This is the first time I have used this new category. Recommendations in this category are Alert items. I will follow this stock (and any future recommendations in this category) as if I owned it, and when I consider the stock ripe for selling (probably a few months down the road), I will publish a sell Alert on it. The story here is a breakout from an eight-week base, fueled by a bullish news item, on a stock which is recently growing very rapidly and which is, I believe, dramatically undervalued. The news item is a report from the company that first quarter sales are running 40% ahead of the year-ago quarter, and also that the company has set a 2-for-1 stock split. This suggests that the company's recent rapid growth is continuing apace. Here are the impressive numbers from the last four quarters: Quarter Ended Sales($mil) Earnings-per-share --------- ---------------- ------------------- Mar 31 92 4.8 vs 4.0 +21% 0.20 vs 0.03 +0.17 Jun 30 92 6.4 vs 5.1 +26% 0.45 vs 0.12 +0.33 Sep 30 92 6.0 vs 5.8 +24% 0.51 vs -0.07 +0.58 Dec 31 92 6.4 vs 4.2 +54% 0.52 vs 0.05 +0.47 The EPS rank of 82 is not as high as I usually like to see. This is because the current growth spurt is a recent phenomenon -- just over a year old. If strong growth continues even one or two more quarters, this number will rise. The RS rank of 97, on the other hand, is very high. The stock has made an impressive five-fold move from its 52-week low of 3 1/2 set a year ago. The stock's PE of 11 is far below its recent sales and earning growth rates, and the industry group (Textile-Home Furnishings) is strong and appears to be gaining strength. The group ranked 75th (out of 199) for six-month price performance two months ago. This week, the group has climbed to 22nd place. Decorator Industries, located in Pembroke Pines, Florida (305-436-8909) manufactures draperies, bedspreads, and other items for the manufactured housing and recreational vehicle industries. All rankings in today's alert (earnings-per-share, relative strength, and group relative strength) are from Investor's Business Daily. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previous Alert: Vol.2 #50 (March 24, 1993) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- *** To all who download this newsletter *** *** ANNOUNCEMENT: TRIAL PERIOD TO CONTINUE THROUGH APRIL 30 *** On May 1, 1993, this newsletter will be available only for a subscription fee.
