SYNCHRONET BBS ANNOUNCES REMOTE IMAGING PROTOCOL COMPATIBILITY -------------------------------------------------------------- Digital Dynamics has announced that revision 1 of version 1.1b of Sychronet Bulletin Board System will support the RIP graphics protocol developed by Telegrafix. The new release will ship with RIP menus and will support the coming RIPaint menu editing package from Telegrafix. RIP is a true interactive mouse-driven graphical interface. The RIPterm program required to use this interface is public domain and can be downloaded from the Synchronet support BBS at (714)529-9547. The new Synchronet release also includes internal support for Postlink networks. Postlink is the software used by the RIME network. Synchronet also supports .QWK, FidoNet and other messaging networks and claims to make connecting to such networks easy for the system operator with menu driven configuration screens. Also included in the new rev 1 release: Incoming FAX support using ZyXEL FAXmodems. Topical chat areas with optional password protection and security flags. PCBoard, Wildcat, Celerity, and WWIV message and menu color support for networked subboards. User database expanded to support 9000 users. Text and menu options can be hidden by security level. Send FidoNet NetMail from an QWK offline reader. On-line message quoting. Support for callback verification doors written for Remote Access, QuickBBS, or SuperBBS (EXITINFO.BBS drop file). Seamless integration of external door programs. The rev 1 version is a free upgrade to registered version 1b users and can be downloaded from the support BBS. Synchronet allows up to 10 nodes on a single PC under DESQview with LAN connectivity for a maximum of 250 lines. Their support BBS sports 8 nodes on a single 50 MHz 486.
