 MACWORLD EXPO ROUNDUP

Like a pig in a python, the annual MacWorld Expo extravaganza cycled through
the system for the eighth time since 1984. But this time the crowd was
noticeably different, what with all of Apple's color printer introductions
and assorted multimedia mantras and mavens buzzing about San Francisco's
Moscone Center. All of Apple's new creative toys brought out the kid in the
rest of us, drawing a much more relaxed crowd than the attendee mix from past
years when self-important business themes produced corporate button-down
types accompanied by squads of arbitrageurs marching up and down the halls
while nodding their heads quietly to one another as they targeted new buyout
victims. But alas, since the 80s and Reaganomics are gone, we'll have to make
our own way. This time we'll take a look at some of the software
announcements of note to sysops, and, next time, review hardware news from
MacWorld.
