TOUCH SCREEN TO GO MicroTouch Systems is now shipping the QuikPoint GX140, a plug and play universal Touch screen solution that snaps onto the front of any 13 or 14 inch monitor. Priced at $695, the GX140's screen consists of an all glass sensor that has a uniform alternating current voltage field spread over its surface. When you make contact with the sensor to the voltage field, drawing the current to your finger. The resulting current flows are measured and digitized by the controller. The system has a resolution of 1,024 x 1,024 touch points and averages down the area of finger contact to single point, giving you pixel by pixel control when touching the screen. The GX140 installs quickly; you simply attach the touch screen to the front of the monitor. The unit controller card can be installed in a PC expansion slot or can reside in an external housing that connects to a serial port.
