According to his bill it would be called the � � state of Columbia. It would be represented by two senators and one Con- � � ress person. What is the motive behind this? Some say it is because Ted � � Kennedy wants to make it a state because it would almost guarantee Jesse � � Jackson, a co-liberal, a seat in the Senate. Mr. Jackson is pushing very � � hard to get this bill passed along with Mr. Kennedy. One can only assume � � the reason is because Mr. Jackson finally found a location that just might � � put him into the public office he desires so badly. Others say the reason � � is because of Ted Kennedy's recent breech in the law and profit. That � � breech is of course the buying of land in Washington D.C., in which no � � other parties were permitted the right to bid once Ted placed his bid for � � this land. After getting the land Ted turned around and leased it back to � � the federal government at well over a million dollars a year. This is � � clearly a violation of ethics and is illegal under the laws of our country.� � Whatever the true reason for the BIG PUSH to make Washington D.C. a state, � � it is our opinion this is an error and would compromise the governmental � � process; here's why: � � Washington D.C. was originally established as the capital of this nation � � through the Residence Act of 1783.
