{L A N t a s t i c {A2Mbps and E2Mbps MC Adapters} {Standard Bus and Micro Channel} LANtastic A2Mbps and E2Mbps MC adapters are the perfect way to economically network small or medium-sized businesses with IBM PC or Micro Channel compatible computers. Both Micro Channel Architecture and Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) adapters include a 10Mhz coprocessor, and 32K of on-board dual-ported RAM. Each 2Mbps adapter also includes software- selectable IRQ and RAMBASE address settings. Artisoft's implementation of the NetBIOS standard is loaded into and executed within the adapter. This plunges the NetBIOS draw on a PC's base RAM down to just 2K and off-loads network processing onto the adapter. The cards are easy to install and use inexpensive dual-twisted pair cable. LANtastic A2Mbps and E2Mbps MC adapters drive cable lengths of up to 1500 feet per network with Artisoft cable, up to 300 feet with AT&T telephone-grade cable, and will handle 32 nodes per segment. {Specifications} {Hardware compatibility: {Standard Bus (ISA): {} IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2 model 30, 286 and compatibles, and 386-based IBM PC bus compatibles {} Approved for up to 33MHz 386, 20MHz 286 and 12MHz 8088 systems {Micro Channel: {} IBM PS/2 Micro Channel and compatibles {PC requirements: {} One floppy drive {} One 16- or 8-bit slot {} PC or MS DOS 3.1 or higher (3.2 not recommended). {Interrupt Request Line (IRQ): {} Standard Bus (ISA): 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and AT 10, 15 {} Software selectable {} Micro Channel: 3,4,5,6,7, and 9 {Selectable I/O Base Address (ISA): {} Selectable by on-board switches: 220h, 240h, 260h, 280h, 2A0h, 320h, 340h, 360h {RAMBASE Address: {} Standard Bus (ISA): Uses 8K above 640K boundary at 64 software selectable addresses {} Micro Channel: Uses 32K at selectable addresses: 8000, 8800, 9000, 9800, A000, A800, B000, B800, C000, C800, D000, D800, E000, E800, F000, F800 {Buffer RAM: {} On-board 32K bytes of dual-ported buffer RAM {Coprocessor: {} On-board 10MHz {Data transfer rate: {} 2.0 Mbps {Topology: {} Bus topology {} Star and tree configurations with optional Hub {Network cable lengths: {} Up to 1500 feet with Artisoft cable {} Up to 1000 feet with Belden 9729 or Plenum 89729 {} Up to 300 feet with AT&T telephone grade solid conductor, twisted pair wire (We do not support cables not listed above.) {Network size: {} Up to 32 computers without additional hardware {} Up to 500 computers with optional Hub {Connection method: {} Rugged DB9 connectors, built-in "T" connector on each adapter {} Optional DB9 to phone jack (RJ11) adapters {Standards: {} NetBIOS, EIA-489, EIA-422, SDLC {Protocols: {} CSMA/CD and CSMA/CA {Power requirements {} +5V 1400 mA maximum {} +5V 900 mA typical {Options: {} Hub unit extends network beyond standard network lengths and creates star or tree topologies {} DB9 to phone jack (RJ11) adapters {} Remote boot ROM for ISA {} Additional RAM for ISA that can reduce LANtastic NOS's RAM overhead in workstations to 0K and in servers to under 32K
