{ARTISOFT BEGINS SHIPPING LANTASTIC(R) NODERUNNER(TM) 2000/C {ADD-ON KITS WITH SPECIAL INTRODUCTORY OFFER {Limited-Time Offer On Single & 6-Pack Kits (TUCSON, AZ -- February 15, 1993) -- Artisoft, Inc. announced today that it has started shipping its LANtastic NodeRunner 2000/C add-on kit with "LANtastic On Board(TM)" -- the first of four new add-on kits in the LANtastic NodeRunner 2000 series. The 2000/C addon kit is being offered at a special introductory price of $259, down from the new list price of $279. Multi-packs of six LANtastic NodeRunner 2000/C add-on kits are specially priced at $1,499, reducing the average cost per node to approximately $249. The 2000/C is also available in a multi-pack of 12 nodes for the suggested retail price of $2,899, reducing the average cost per node to $241. The LANtastic NodeRunner add-on kits incorporate the new ALICE(TM) controller, a completely softwareconfigurable Ethernet Integrated Circuit designed and developed by Artisoft. The 2000/C has a BNC connection for thin coax cable and includes a one-user LANtastic network license. "We have developed these new add-on kits with the needs of our customers and resellers in mind," said Dave Hallmen, Artisoft's Vice President of Sales & Marketing. "Because they also use the ALICE controller, they are completely software-configurable for easy, one- step installation into a LANtastic network." The ALICE controller is one of the smallest Ethernet Integrated Circuits (ICs) on the market, measuring less than one square inch, and is the only IC to support both ISA and MicroChannel bus architectures. In addition, it is software-compatible with these major industry- standard Ethernet designs: Artisoft's AE-series of adapters and Novell's NE1000, NE2000 and NE/2 adapters. The LANtastic NodeRunner 2000 series add-on kits include a one-user LANtastic network license for each of the models: the 2000/C, 2000/T, 2000/A and 2000M/TC. Each of these models contain 16-bit Ethernet adapters in 100% compliance with the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard. They come with 32K onboard buffer RAM and autosense between 8- and 16- bit slots. The 2000/T model has an RJ-45 connection for 10BASE-T, unshielded twisted pair cable and can be connected internally to an Artisoft Peer Hub(TM) 10BASE-T internal concentrator or used with standard 10BASE-T hubs from other vendors. The 2000/T model is scheduled to ship at the end of this month and is also included in the special introductory offer of $259 each, with 6-node multi-packs specially priced at $1,499. The 2000/T will also be available in a multipack of 12 nodes for $2,899. The 2000/A model has AUI, BNC and RJ-45 connections for use with thick and thin coax and unshielded twisted pair cable respectively. It is user upgradable to 64K RAM and can also be connected internally to a Peer Hub 10BASE-T concentrator. The 2000/A has a suggested retail price of $329. The 2000M/TC model is made for MicroChannel systems and includes both BNC and RJ-45 connections for use with coax and unshielded twisted pair cable. It has a suggested retail price of $379. The 2000/A and 2000M/TC models in the LANtastic NodeRunner 2000 series add-on kits are scheduled to ship later this quarter. This introductory pricing on the LANtastic NodeRunner 2000/C and 2000/T add-on kits is for a limited time and is subject to discontinuation without notice. The LANtastic NodeRunner add-on kits are also the first Artisoft products to embody the LANtastic On Board concept -- products, from Artisoft and other manufacturers, that are easily installed because they are network-ready to operate on LANtastic networks. LANtastic On Board products are easily identified by the LANtastic On Board logo, a yellow diamond, on their packaging.
