Glossary of Terms

Armageddon: The last great battle between the forces of Christ and
the forces of the Antichrist which will take place in Palestine.

Azzazel: The name of the scapegoat in the Old Testament which
carried away the sins of the people on the day of Atonement.Ellen
G. White taught that this was a type of Satan who would carry the
sins of the redeemed of God.

Investigative Judgement: Hiram Edson taught that Christ entered the
Heavenly Holy of Holies in 1844. He is keeping a record of the
lives of His people to see if they keep the Law during their
earthly walk. This period is called the probation. It will end at
the second advent.

Justification: That part of redemption in which God declares the
believer to be righteous based on faith in Christ alone.
Millennium: The 1,000 year period of Christ's reign on earth after
the second advent.

2300: "Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the
sanctuary be cleansed" (Dan. 8:14). The 2300 days were taken to
mean 2300 years by William Miller. He started counting from 457 BC
when the decree went forth to rebuild Jerusalem.

Spirit Of Prophecy: The entirety of the writings of Ellen G. White.
Many traditional SDA hold these to be equal to scripture in
inspiration and authority. The Davidian SDA include the writings of
V.T. Houteff to those of White. However, they do not hold either to
be equal with the Bible.
