Would you believe that Electronic Arts has made an action game that is better
than Sonic or Mario? Combined?

Well maybe it's not THAT great, but Rolo to the Rescue is a surprisingly good
platform type game. Rolo the elephant has to rescue his furry friends from the
evil hunters. There are 4 types of animals that you can rescue: rabbit, 
squirrel, mole, and otter. After you free an animal you can take control of
him. Each animal has a special ability. You can beat enemies by jumping on
them ala Mario or Rolo can suck in water or a rock into his snout and then
shoot it at enemies. The game is great fun and takes a lot of strategy. You 
need to use the different animals and their abilities to help Rolo reach place
he can't normally reach. 

The game is divided into several stages with each stage made up of different
areas (you can move from area to area on a large overhead map). To clear each
area you have to rescue all the animals in that area and find the exit. At
the end of each stage is of course a big nasty boss.

The game has probably the best graphics EA has ever done! And probably the
best music too. Rolo and his friends are very well animated and are just too
cute for words! The backgrounds are very colorful and detailed. The music is
actually sort of pleasant, a big first for an EA game. 

So far I could find nothing wrong with this 4 meg game. It plays and controls
well. It involves a good mix of action and thinking. The graphics are great.
The game seems very long with a lot of stages. But I think a problem may be 
that there is no way to save your game. Still if you want a good platform
action game with a lot of original and neat ideas you should check out Rolo.
Besides it's only $39.99.
