Now that that's over, Enjoy! Stone Bank Golf Club The City of Columbus has gotten into the golf course business! Along with a developer, the City of Columbus has revamped an old part of town and rejuvenated the downtown area again. There has been wide spread speculation about who the developer is. The City of Columbus has not released the name of the developer but has said, "The developer has a great love for the city and wants to do something for the city for which he grew up." The mayor and members of City Council held a news conference at 12:00 noon prior to the grand opening, it wasn't till then that the developer was introduced and play the first round of golf with the mayor. The developer/designer of Stone Bank Golf Club was introduced as Craig Clemans and Joe Blankenship, They were recent winners of the Ohio Lottery. Craig Clemans who was born and raised in Columbus, wanted to put something back in the city for which he grew up. "I have always wanted to design and build a golf course and winning the Lottery has given me the opportunity to fulfill that dream. With the councils approval we have taken a land plot that has has been underdeveloped and brought life to this part of town. Joe Blankenship and I have co-designed this course to meet the needs of all levels of golfers and to encourage people to relocate to the downtown area known as "The Brewery District"". It is reported that the course has a state of the art watering and drainage system installed to recycle water used by the golf course and to purify any water it needs from the Scioto River. - Course Specifications - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 OUT 391 309 136 391 433 561 170 422 535 3348 386 304 136 386 425 551 152 412 532 3284 367 277 130 368 420 476 146 401 485 3070 322 272 120 299 356 415 133 327 435 2679 4 4 3 4 4 5 3 4 5 36 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 IN TOTAL 390 155 352 455 443 502 208 436 511 3452 6800 389 154 349 452 435 497 202 434 500 3412 6696 383 147 297 422 416 458 185 431 462 3198 6268 328 142 291 374 341 447 167 429 422 2945 5324 4 3 4 4 4 5 3 4 5 36 72 - THANK YOU'S - We want to thank Mike Burdulis (aka: GIZ) for play testing, comments and concerns on the course. The various objects were borrowed and edited to fit from Mark Willett and Lee Ritze. I would like to take this time to thank Joe Blankenship for saying "yes" when asked to co-design a course with me. Joe does a excellent job and has a lot of patience (I think I called him 2-3 times a week.) For those who want to know: Craig - 18 hole layout, object placement on back nine. Joe - Course overhead, object placement front nine. Both - Final editing and many rounds of golf. Both of us would like to hear want you think of the course. We can be reached on Prodigy or by mail.
