WINSENSE! OPTIMIZING WINDOWS THE AUTOMATIC WAY WinSense, Version 1.1, asks how you work in Windows, and then it optimizes the environment so that all your graphical applications work as well as they can. The $50 utility does this job automatically, but it also gives you menus with which you can tweak hundreds of windows settings by hand. In the center of WinSense is a user profile menu where you report which network you use, the kinds of applications you use most, wheter you use DOS applications, the speed of your modem, and other details. Then the program recommends changes in WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI files to squeeze the last byte of RAM our of your system and to increase the speed and efficiency of Windows. Some of the recommendations modify existing lines in your system files. Others add lines that subtly alter Windows default settings. If you don't like the results, you can restore up to nine earlier states of your system files. If you use WinSense to manipulate your Program Manager Layout, you'll get an error message if you use more then 25 program groups. After testing this product on one PC WinSense did more to optimize Windows performance than any other utility I've tested. Its one program to look at. EDITOR CLYDE ARNOLD BITS N' BYTES BBS
