TPSETUP.EXE V1.0D COPYRIGHT (C) 1993 THE DREAMLOGIC SOFTWARE PUBLISHING GROUP TPSETUP.EXE is the configuration program for TRACKPRO PC. TRACKPRO PC is a product of: The DreamLogic Software Publishing Group P.O. Box 75026 Bolton, Ontario Canada L7E 1H6 A Professional Harness Racing Handicap System by "The Edge" TPSETUP.EXE is an integral part of TRACKPRO PC, a software package for handicapping harness races that contains the main program, several auxiliary files, and complete on-disk documentation. As an integral part of this package, TPSETUP.EXE should never be distributed on its own. However, the entire package may be distributed for evaluation only under the shareware concept of software distribution. TrackPro PC and all other products released by The DreamLogic Software Publishing Group are protected under both Canada copyright law and international treaty provisions. Complete details of distribution issues and rights, as well as legal issues, can be found in the main program documentation file TRACKPRO.TXT. Additionally, if you are not familiar with the shareware concept, you should read the file SHARWARE.TXT. USING TPSETUP.EXE - THE TRACKPRO SETUP PROGRAM Before you start TrackPro PC, you should run the setup program TPSETUP.EXE. The setup program allows you to configure TrackPro PC's data entry options to match those in your race track program schedule, and also allows you to adjust the various weighting factors of the parameters involved in handicapping a race. These options are then saved in a configuration file TRACKPRO.CFG. Two options in the setup program are particularly important, these being the data entry modes for driver statistics and trainer statistics. If your race track program schedule lists UDR Universal Driver Rating and also lists UTR Universal Trainer Rating, then it is not necessary to run TPSETUP.EXE, as these are the default parameters. If you start TrackPro PC without using TPSETUP.EXE, TrackPro PC will create a configuration file using its own default parameters. However, if your race track program schedule does not list Driver UDR or Trainer UTR, then you must run TPSETUP.EXE, and select the alternate data entry options, which are Driver Starts, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishes, and likewise, Trainer Starts, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishes. To run the setup program TPSETUP.EXE, floppy disk users need only to insert the TrackPro disk in the appropriate drive, then type: TPSETUP [press Enter] Hard disk users will need to log onto the drive and directory that TrackPro was installed in. For example: CD\TRACKPRO [press Enter] TPSETUP [press Enter] TPSETUP.EXE will then load, and, if a configuration file already exists, the current configuration is then loaded. As the configuration file is loading, a message is displayed approximately mid-screen as shown. LOADING CONFIGURATION FILE ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ Loading TRACKPRO.CFG. Stand by... Once the configuration file has loaded, the message disappears and the main Setup Screen appears. If no configuration file exists, the default parameters are used. In this case, the following message will be displayed. CONFIGURATION FILE NOT FOUND ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ Creating new file TRACKPRO.CFG. Using default Setup parameters. Press any key to continue. Press any key to proceed, the screen will then clear, and the Setup Screen appears. The Setup Screen consists of a Title Bar across the top row, a one line Help display across the bottom row, and a large Setup Menu which opens with the first option highlighted in blue. Moving around in the Setup Menu is fairly straight forward, it uses the Up and Down Cursor keys and [Enter] to select and adjust the various options. To select any of the Setup Menu options, just press [Enter] when that particular option is highlighted in blue. On a monochrome monitor, it will appear highlighted in inverse text. When you press [Enter] the highlighted bar will change in color to red, or to bold text on a monochrome monitor, to indicate that the menu option is activated. Data entry options are automatically toggled to ON when activated. All scoring options have values that are adjusted using the Up and Down Cursor keys. Once the appropriate value is displayed on screen, press [Enter] to select that value. The highlighted color bar will change back to red, or inverse text for monochrome, indicating that the menu option is no longer active. Each of the menu options are described in more detail below. DATA ENTRY MODE OPTIONS It is very important that you set the Data Entry Mode options to match the data that is listed in your race track program schedule. TrackPro PC will use the Data Entry Mode that you select here in its Handicap Data Entry Window. The Data Entry Mode selection can be done only by using TPSETUP.EXE. You cannot change these options from within TrackPro PC. DRIVER: UNIVERSAL DRIVER RATING The Universal Driver Rating is a 3 digit decimal number that summarizes the driver's performance. It is based on the number of 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place finishes compared to the number of starts. If your race track program schedule provides the UDR rating for each driver, you should select this option during setup, as this allows for faster data entry. To select this option, press [Enter] when it is highlighted. This option will then automatically be toggled to ON. DRIVER: STARTS-1STS-2NDS-3RDS If your race track program schedule does not list the Driver UDR, then you should select this option for driver data entry. TRAINER: UNIVERSAL TRAINER RATING The Universal Trainer Rating is a 3 digit decimal number that summarizes the trainer's performance. To select this option, press [Enter] when it is highlighted. This option will then automatically be toggled to ON.
