                  'Almost Heaven' Almost Says It

                     A trip log taken between
                        9/25/93 & 10/8/93

To West Virginia's Monongahela National Forest

                           -----------

Chris and I are back from a truly excellent little series of
adventures that one calls a vacation. We've seen some of the most
beautiful countryside in America, met some wonderful people, and have
had a few times that we shall surely never, ever forget.

This trip log was transcribed from the handwritten log I kept,
the 4 hours of video we shot and the 35mm stills I took.

As a hint of what's inside, during these two weeks we visited some of
the following places;

Falling Water (Frank Lloyd Wright designed house)
Dolly Sods Wilderness
Spruce Knob (4863' highest point of WV)
Highland Scenic Highway
Cranberry Glades
Burkes Garden, VA
Pipestem State Park
Brush Creek Falls
Cranberry Backcountry
Redoak Knob (3707')
Seneca Rocks
Harper's Ferry

There are many other places we've been to. Spent some
tremendous nights beneath a trillion stars. Been battered by 100 mph
winds, sleet and rain all on different nights. Learned how to build a
great fire and use only a little wood, and earned an appreciation for
our new vehicle the 'Suburban Ranger'.

We met some great people and ate even better food. (Say "Hi" to
Tina for us if you're ever in Jeanie's in Buckeye.)

A Toolbook edition (with photographs) of this is available as well as a
DocMaker edition for you Macheads out there.
