Artisoft Technical Bulletin 08.25.93 ME LANtastic for Macintosh Configuration Examples ================================================ This document describes minimum configuration files for a LANtastic for Macintosh dedicated gateway computer. A minimum configuration means the gateway will not function correctly unless you have files set to at least 100, and SHARE.EXE loaded on the gateway with a minimum of /L:200 and /F:4096. After SERVER.EXE is loaded there must be a minimum of 450K base memory for LMSERVER.EXE to run. Do not load any other Terminate Stay Resident (TSR) programs on the dedicated gateway. After running successfully with the following configuration files, it is possible to increase certain parameters and add a disk cache program such as LANcache. Disk caching does not affect performance on the gateway to a great extent, however. The following files assume you are using DOS 5.0 or DOS 6.0. ** CONFIG.SYS ** ** AUTOEXEC.BAT ** DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS PROMPT $P$G DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS PATH=C:\;C:\DOS;C:\LANTASTI;C:\LANMAC DOS=HIGH,UMB CALL C:\LANTASTI\STARTNET FILES=100 CD LANMAC BUFFERS=50 LMSTART LASTDRIVE=Z FCBS=16,8 STACKS=0,0 ** STARTNET.BAT ** ** LMSTART.BAT ** REM: Sample for LANtastic REM: Sample for 3C503 REM: AE-Series ethernet adapters REM: 3Com adapters SHARE /L:200 /F:4096 LSL LH AEX ENET3CH/NAME=ETHER$ LH AILANBIO ATALK REDIR SERVER LOGINS=1 AARP LH SERVER PAP_WS NET LOGIN/WAIT \\SERVER SERVER PAP_SRV NET LPT TIMEOUT 10 LMSERVER If you need technical support for LANtastic for Macintosh, please call 602- 670-7000 extension 528.
