The next key you will learn is the "Y". Looking at your keyboard , notice that the "Y" is above the "J" and slightly to the left., The "Y" is keyed with the "J" finger. Without removing the other fingers from their positions on the home row keys, reach from "J' up to "Y" and back to "J" again.. This is a long reach, but one that will be easy with a little practice. Make the "J" "Y" "J" reach without striking the keys. Get the feel for the reach. Practice this reach until you feel comfortable. Now, practice this reach as it is called for you. Wait for the tone before you strike the key and think each key as you strike it. Remember your keyboarding posture! Do not watch your hands as you key with the dictation.
